Bayley Wins Shootout

CCS Florida

Homestead-Miami Speedway

Homestead, Florida

September 28-29, 2019

Lloyd Bayley won the Expert Unlimited Grand Prix race at Homestead-Miami Speedway on board his LB Sports BMW S1000RR after a rough start.  Bayley was caught up in grid traffic for the first few laps and had to work his way to the front.  By lap three he had taken over the lead and never looked back.  Behind him, Amateur Alex Nieves, Jr. had maneuvered his West Side Performance Kawasaki ZX-10R in to the lead for the amateur group and second place overall.   The race was the only class in which Bayley competed during the event.  He is sponsored by Dunlop, DP Brakes, BMW Motorrad, and Moto-D Racing.

A purse for the Unlimited Grand Prix race was reintroduced during this round.  For the first time ever, the race was presented by Mark Tenn Motorsports/Pirelli Tire with a $500.00 purse and no grid minimums.  The race will be supported by Mark Tenn Motorsports again during the final round at Homestead-Miami Speedway in December, and the purse size is anticipated to grow even bigger with additional support, not yet announced.

Dustin Richards and Roger Morissette were the event’s two biggest expert winners with four victories each.  Morissette dominated the lightweight classes on board his Suzuki SV 560, winning the GTL, Lightweight Grand Prix, Lightweight Superbike, and Ultralight Superbike races.

Richards was out front after fighting his way through traffic in all of his Middleweight classes on board his Yamaha YZF-R6.  He won the Expert Middleweight Supersport, Middleweight Superbike, Heavyweight Superbike, and Middleweight Grand Prix races.  He also finished third in the Unlimited Grand Prix.  Richards is backed by Moto-D Racing, Hustle Hard Racing, Racer FX, Engine Ice and Track Bike Rentals.

Amateur Daryan Martin was the winningest racer of the weekend, running undefeated and taking home six first place victories.  Martin won the GTU, Middleweight Supersport, Heavyweight Supersport, Middleweight Superbike, Heavyweight Superbike, and Middleweight Grand Prix races on his Yamaha YZF-R6.  Martin is sponsored by Suomy Helmets, Vortex Racing, Engine Ice, Mark Tenn Motorsports/Pirelli Tire, and Drippin Wet.

The Championship Cup Series Florida region is scheduled to compete next at Daytona International Speedway October 19-20th.  The event will include ASRA Sprint race and Team Challenge finals and as well as CCS National Championship Sprints for all CCS regions.  And, the Florida region season finale will be held again at Homestead-Miami Speedway December 7-8th.

Full race results, lap times, and points standings for all series and regions are available online at:  www.ccsracing.us.
