Daytona Beach Veteran Community to Assist VETMotorsports.
Upper Arlington, Ohio – While wounded post 9-11 combat veterans will be at the Daytona International Speedway embedded with select AMA Pro Road Racing Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson Teams, the Daytona area veteran community will be supporting the crews off the track. Combat Veteran Motorcycle Association (CVMA) Florida Chapter 20-1, Veteran of Foreign Wars (VFW) Florida District 19 and American Legion Post 361 Legion Rider’s have committed to supporting VETMotorsports’ mission.
“The CVMA is comprised of Veterans who ride motorcycles as a hobby. We provide a climate of camaraderie that only fellow Veterans can provide. We seek to help Veterans, service members and their families in their time of need. To all Veterans the CVMA says ‘Welcome Home!’,” stated Florida CVMA Chapter 20-1 President “Tombstone”.
The VFW’s mission is to foster camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas conflicts; to serve our veterans, the military, and communities; and to advocate on behalf of all veterans. Florida District 19 Commander Bill Buckhannon added, “The official VFW motto is ‘No One Does More for Veterans’, and we mean every word of this. In Daytona we help every veteran within means.”
The American Legion Riders Post 361 will also support VETMotorsports at the speedway. The American Legion is committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome community programs; advocating patriotism and honor; promoting strong national security; and continued devotion to our fellow service members and veterans. The American Legion is one of the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organizations.
“Our outreach could not have happened without the support of the Daytona Beach veteran community. We are honored to have such a strong collation of veterans advocates associated with our program this week at Daytona International Speedway. All of the organizations are united with a common mission to empower and support veterans and their communities. An average of 22 veterans commit suicide each day, and VETMotorsports mission is to make a positive difference in our participants lives,” stated VETMotorsports Executive Director and Founder Peter Cline.
