Giuliano GREGORINI (Yam YZF-R6), -25.861 More, from a press release issued by Team Pedercini: Third and fourth rounds for the Italian Superbike and Superstock 1000 Championship in Misano Adriatico. With two races in two days, Saturday and Sunday, for the CIV at the Misano World Circuit. Team Pedercini decided to enter Mark Aitchison as a wildcard entry for both Misano Superbike CIV appointments, alongside the full-time CIV rider Fulvio Faccetti. A good opportunity for both team and rider to continue the development of the new Ninja ZX 10R and to test some new settings in view of the next World Superbike Championship races. In this morning’s second qualifying session Mark Aitchison, following on from the fastest lap scored yesterday, took the best lap time (1’36″219) again today and will start from pole position in both today and tomorrow’s 18-lap races. Fifth row start for Faccietti (1’39″857). In todays’ race Aitchison started very fast from pole position and immediately took command of the race. On lap three Mark made the quickest lap of the race overall (1’37″319) but unfortunately during the seventh lap Aitchison crashed through the Misano corner, ending his race prematurely, on the gravel. Faccietti’s start was not so fast and he finished the first lap in seventeen position. Due to a good race pace Fulvio was able to make up a lot of positions to reach the final eleventh place. Superbike qualifying : 1) Aitchison (Kawasaki) 2) Sandi (Ducati) 3) Baiocco (Ducati) 4) Polita (Ducati) 5) Conforti (Ducati) “¦”¦”¦17) Faccietti (Kawasaki) Superbike Saturday race : 1) Baiocco (Ducati) – 2) Polita (Ducati) – 3) Sandi (Ducati) 4) Mandatori (Aprilia) “¦”¦”¦.11) Faccietti (Kawasaki) – RET) Aitchison (Kawasaki) Mark Aitchison : “Today has been a good and bad day for us. We are here in Misano to test, improve our bike consistency and try a few different things to see how the bike reach. Qualifying went well, I managed to stay in pole position, improving my lap time and working on same small solutions with the fork. In the race this afternoon all was going to plan but the front tyre tucked very quickly in the final corner and I slid off. Unfortunately the handlebar was broken and I was not able to rejoin. We must understand what happened today and look forward to tomorrow”. Fulvio Faccietti :” I’m pretty satisfied with today’s race. In the middle of the race I was fighting in a group of five or six riders and I worked hard to make some passes. My bike was working well and I am happy with the result. I reached a good eleventh position and took some useful points. It was not an easy race, mainly because of my bad starting position but I’m pretty satisfied considering the difficulties we found yesterday. I want to thank all my technical staff for their hard work”. In the Superstock 1000 qualifying session, Marco Bussolotti made an excellent performance. The Team Pedercini rider quickly found a good base set-up for his Kawasaki, scoring the fastest time (1’37″811) in this morning’s qualifying session. The Italian rider started from pole position in today’s third round of the CIV Superstock. Teammate Tati Mercado has been experiencing difficulties at Misano. He does not feel at ease and lacks feeling in the front of his Ninja ZX 10R. Thirteenth position (1’39″914) and a fourth row start for him in today’s 15-lap race. Both Pedercini team riders made a quick start to Saturday’s race. Bussolotti was first while Mercado started to make up positions right from the first few laps, reaching the tenth position. Bussolotti fought in the first group of riders for the entire race but as the tyres dropped in performance, the rider began to lose positions and closed in fourth place. Mercado did not find fast pace and suffered some problems with the front of his bike. Tati finished the race in ninth place. Superstock 1000 – qualifying : 1) Bussolotti (Kawasaki) 2) Canepa (Ducati) 3) Della Ceca (Ducati) 4) Perotti (BMW) 5) Petrucci (Ducati) “¦”¦”¦13) Mercado (Kawasaki) Superstock 1000 race : 1) Petrucci (Ducati) 2) Della Ceca (Ducati) 3) Magnoni (BMW) – 4) Bussolotti (Kawasaki) “¦”¦.. 9) Mercado (Kawasaki) Marco Bussolotti : “I’m satisfied with fourth place because it’s the best result I could reach today. My start was very fast but I know that unfortunately with worn out tyres, my bike started to slide a lot and near to the middle of the race I was forced to concede some position. Fourth place is not a bad result and I’m happy because in the last few days we made a lot of improvements to my bike’s set up and for tomorrow I’ll try my best to reach the podium.” Leandro “Tati” Mercado: “The race was really difficult for us. I suffered some chattering on the front wheel and the problem only got worse as the race continued. With worn-out tyres I felt a lot of vibrations coming from the front wheel and I finished in ninth place. I hope to be more competitive in tomorrow’s race.”
