DENVER, Colo. (June 7, 2012) – J.D. Beach rides the No. 95 RoadRace Factory/Red Bull Yamaha YZF-R6 in AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike, and the 20-year-old just scored the first podium for the new team last weekend at Road America. Read on to find out 20 things you didn’t know about J.D. Beach: Q: What’s your routine every morning? A: I try to go to bed about 10:00 p.m. and then get up at 6:30 or 6:45 a.m., make breakfast and once I let the food settle, then I either go peddle my bicycle for 20 – 40 miles or I go and run between 30 – 45 minutes. Q: What are your favorite hobbies, outside of racing? A: I definitely really like to cook, and I really like to ride my bicycle. Q: What kind of bicycle do you ride? A: I have a Specialized S WORKS SL3. Q: What is your signature J.D. Beach dish? A: I’m pretty good at breakfast food, that’s pretty much my signature thing. I can make some pretty good omelets and eggs. Q: What is your favorite place in the world? A: Not counting America, which is the greatest country ever, I would have to say Switzerland. I went there in 2008 with Casey Stoner when he was looking at buying a house there and it was a really nice place. Q: What was your first bike? A: Suzuki JR50. I was 3 or 4 years old, it’s a little different than what most people start out on. Most people start out on a PW50. The difference with the Suzuki is that you actually had to hip it, and it was a lot older so it was a lot different. Q: How was high school for you? A: I started doing homeschool when I was in 10th grade and got my diploma in 2010. Q: What was your favorite subject? A: My favorite subject was math; it’s something I’ve enjoyed since elementary school. A lot of what you learn you don’t really use once you’re out of high school but some of the stuff, like ratios and measurements, you use a lot for things like bike setup and mixing two-stroke gas, so it was good to learn that stuff. Q: What about history? A: History wasn’t a bad class either, that was one I liked too. I like history, because when I travel I like to learn about the places that I go to. Q: Who was your racing hero growing up? A: The biggest one that I’ve always looked up to ever since I started racing was Chris Carr. Q: What’s one of the craziest things that you’ve ever done? A: One time me, Hayden Gillim, Ricky Lee, Brad Baker who races in AMA Pro Flat Track and a couple kids that live in Owensboro went to this elementary school that’s been shut down for 10 years or so. One night we decided to go in there, and we found a window that was open and spent a couple of hours just walking around this elementary school in the middle of the night. We found a couple of baseball bats and balls in the gym and got to play baseball at midnight. Q: What was your first car? A: It was a 1996 Chevy Astro Van that my dad had for going to the races and when I turned 16 it got handed down to me. Q: What’s your favorite style of music? A: Country. Q: Who is your favorite artist? A: I like the Zac Brown Band a lot. All of the Country artists have some really good songs so it’s hard to pick one. Q: Where are you from? A: Issaquah, Washington. Q: Do you have any siblings? A: I have one sister that’s 15 months younger than I am. Q: How’d you get the nickname Jiggy Dog? A: I think it was 2004 at Supercamp, one of the instructors just called me that. Because I guess JD, so then he made Jiggy Dog, and ever since then it just stuck. Q: Do you have a girlfriend? A: No girlfriend for me right now, I’m just focused on racing. Q: What’s your ultimate goal in racing? A: Definitely the ultimate goal is to win either a World Superbike Championship or a MotoGP Championship. Q: Anything that you’re afraid of? A: I’m absolutely terrified of heights.
