McGuinness And Johnson To Ride PBM Ducatis At Macau Grand Prix
English rider John McGuinness will team up with Australian counterpart David Johnson for the Paul Bird Motorsport team to ride the factory-backed PBM Ducati Panigale V4 Rs with backing once again from the Tak Chun Group at the 53rd Edition Macau Grand Prix next weekend.
The 2019 British Superbike champions took victory with Glenn Irwin in 2017 on only his second visit to the 6.12km Circuito Da Guia aboard the Tak Chun Racing by PBM-branded Ducati following a third place the previous year.
Last year, the team again scored a podium with Martin Jessopp on the Tak Chun PBM Ducati whilst 23-times TT winner John McGuinness, making his comeback from injury, claimed tenth on his return to the Lake District-based team.
Lancastrian McGuinness, who won this year’s Classic Senior TT for a second successive year, sampled victory in Macau for Paul Bird’s team back in 2001 whereas Johnson, from Adelaide, claimed his first TT podium with third in this year’s Superstock race. His best result in Macau was last year when he finished seventh.
Both riders will ride identical versions of the Tak Chun Group by PBM Ducati Panigale V4 Rs which took Scott Redding to the British Superbike Championship crown this year with team-mate Josh Brookes finishing second.
This year’s event takes place from 14th to 16th November and for further information, please visit www.macau.grandprix.gov and www.pbmuk.net.
