Following three highly successful years in the British Superbike paddock Tim Martin’s outfit recently announced they were stepping away from the series to concentrate on their road racing campaign.

The announcement that they will front Yamaha UK’s challenge for the next two years is testament to their success in the British Supersport series over the past three seasons with the iconic YZF-R6 Yamaha.

Having tasted their first success on the International Road Race scene in 2014 Mar-Train will concentrate their efforts on increasing this tally by taking in the three International Road Races plus selected National Road Races. The team will consist of one rider and will campaign the three main classes, Supersport, Superstock and Superbike.

Speaking about the deal, team principal Tim Martin stated:

“To be the official Yamaha UK entrant is a fantastic accolade for a family run team such as ourselves. We have had a strong relationship with Yamaha UK over the past four years winning two dozen British Supersport races and a North West 200 on the fantastic YZF-R6 plus numerous other National victories.

“Having the security of a two year deal shows Yamaha’s intentions and commitment to the project and also their confidence that we can put their machines on the top step at the International events. This is a fresh and exciting challenge for us and one I am relishing, 2015 cannot come soon enough.”

Yamaha Motor UK’s Racing Coordinator Karl Radley added:

“It’s been quite clear over the last few years that Tim and the team at Mar-Train Racing are a very well presented and professional squad, with a huge passion for racing and the ability to build race winning bikes. Combined with a huge amount of successes to date and Tim’s recent announcement of the team’s switch to a roads focus for 2015, our decision to commit to Mar-Train Racing was an obvious one and we’re very pleased to have done so.

“We’re very much looking forward to working with the team next year and we have every confidence that they can deliver the results for Yamaha.”

A further announcement on which rider will head the Mar-Train Yamaha team is expected in the coming weeks.
