FIRST PERSON/OPINION Via e-mail: It is with great sadness that I inform you of the passing of a brother. John G. Capen, 64, of Columbia, Maryland, passed away on January 23, 2007. John battled Pancreatic Cancer very bravely, maintaining a smile even in the worst of pain. John leaves his lovely wife Elaine. John was a dedicated MARRC and SCCA member who volunteered for more than 30 years to make road racing a glorious sport. John was the best controller for the safety crews at Summit Point Raceway, as well as a chief in flagging and communications. His bottomless cup of coffee kept John sharp! And funny too. A true gentleman and brother has left this world. Godspeed John. Save me a spot on the grid in Heaven. God bless Elaine. Roger Lyle Hagerstown, Maryland
