(HALIFAX, NS CANADA April 22 2011) Privateers Harley-Davidson has partnered with rising star Cody Matechuk to contest the brand new National Harley-Davidson® XR1200™ Cup, part of the Canadian Superbike Championship series sponsored by Parts Canada. No stranger to National competition, at 17 Cody already has two national championships and was the National Pro Rookie of the Year in last year’s Superbike and Sportbike classes. The team will also benefit from the guidance of Cody’s stepfather, Clint McBain, who is also no stranger to National competition with many National race wins and a Supersport title to his name. “I’m really excited to try out the new XR1200X™ this year, and I’m proud to be backed by Privateers Harley-Davidson®” said Matechuk. “It should be a great season, and I can’t wait to get started.” “I think this class will be really exciting” said McBain. “I think this is the class to be in. There will be lots of competition, and Deeley Harley-Davidson® has put together a great package. I think it’s awesome, it’s just what the sport needs.” John Larson, retailer principal at Privateers Harley-Davidson® and a road racer himself, shares the same enthusiasm. “I think it’s a great class, and a great package that Deeley Harley-Davidson® has put together. We’re thrilled to be teaming up with such a promising young rider in this new adventure, and think that the XR1200™ Cup will be one of the most exciting classes in the series.” The series kicks off on May 28th-29th at Circuit ICAR in Mirabel, Quebec with stops at Shannonville Motorsport Park in Ontario on July 2nd- 3rd and Autodrome St. Eustache in Quebec on July 9th-10th before coming home to Atlantic Motorsport Park in Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia on August 6th-7th and wrapping up at Mosport International Raceway in Bowmanville, Ontario on August 20th-21st.
