The FIM is pleased to announce the appointment of Mathias Barbera as FIM Senior Communication Manager. Mathias will take up his post on 25 November. He will be responsible for driving the FIM Communication Strategy and implementing it across all platforms with an emphasis on increasing the FIM’s presence in the digital communication media. He will also be charged with expanding the FIM´s reach beyond sports fans to all members of the motorcycling family. Mathias has spent the last 14 years in sport. Originally from Perpignan in South of France, he grew up in a family passionate about sport, especially football and rugby. He became Marketing Assistant for the Denver Nuggets basketball team (NBA) in 1999 after one year at UCD (University of Colorado Denver). Back in France in 2001, he joined one of Europe’s biggest football clubs, Paris Saint-Germain, as Press Officer, becoming Media Manager a few years later. For a decade, he was the main point of contact between the European media and the star players and their management. Developing a strong expertise in press relations, corporate and crisis communications, he managed all the assets of a famous brand all over Europe. In 2012, Mathias moved to the FIA (Federation Internationale de l’Automobile) as Head of Content to manage the global communication strategy. With a dedicated team, he coordinated the voice of the Federation on its platforms (print, online), laying the groundwork and taking the first steps towards giving the FIA a stronger online presence. Stéphane Desprez FIM CEO expressed his satisfaction: “I am very pleased to welcome Mathias Barbera into the FIM’s management staff and I am convinced that his past sports experience will assist the FIM in developing its communication strategy.”
