Matsushima Performance Suzuki and rider Danny Eslick completed a shakedown test of a 2006 GSX-R600 Formula Xtreme bike equipped with prototype parts during extremely windy conditions January 22 at California Speedway in Fontana, California. “My first impressions of the Matsushima Performance GSX-R600, overall, from the first ride, it seems like it has good power from low down to all the way to the top end,” Eslick was quoted as saying in a press release. “It changes direction really well in the fast and the slow stuff. Riding on the stock front end feels really awesome right now, so I’m looking forward to getting the Ohlins cartridges and testing with those. I was really impressed with the stock slipper clutch. It’s on the same level as the slipper clutch we had in our FX bike last year, so it’ll be great to be able to use it in Supersport now. Overall, it’s a really great bike. It’s really good to be back on Dunlop tires. The Sportmax GP’s give a lot of feel back to me, with both the front and rear tire feeling really good to me. Unfortunately, it was too windy to make any real steps forward, but overall feel of the tires is fantastic.” Due to limited parts availability, only Eslick rode at the test and not 2006 teammates Blake Young and Jeremiah Johnson.
