Michelin Team Challenge Round 6 Heartland Park Topeka
Topeka, KS For the third time in three rounds the winner of the A&J Solo Challenge was first to take the checkered flag of the Michelin Team Challenge. Kansas City rider Matt Hall joined previous solos winners Nate Kern (VIR) and Jason Ferrell (Blackhawk Farms) by bring home his Kawasaki ZX10 to a decisive victory.
Hix Racing GTO riders Ron Hix and Brian Blume made their mark on the series for the 2009 season by taking their third Team Challenge victory and third GTO class victory in only three starts this year for the team. Second overall in the Team Challenge was also the second place GTO team of Brian Cox and Danny Eslick representing Tulsa Cycle Supply. Third overall and first in GTU were the R&R Repsol GTU Team with Jason Gibbens and Krishna Pribadi aboard.
In the GTO class Central States Racing’s Matt Flowers and Paul Gilchrist finished in third spot behind Hix and Tulsa Cycle. Wisconsin Racing’s Calvin Martinez and Dave Ebben were fourth in GTU and sixth overall. Hawkeye Superbikes was fifth and Swift Molly’s sixth.
On the GTU podium behind the R&R team were the Chester Auto Repair team of Alex Shaw and Eric Helmbach followed by Meghan Stiles and Scott Ryan on the Team Stiles Yamaha 600. “Go Appel” teammates Melissa Appel and Alan Fedderson rounded out the top five GTU finishers respectively.
The GT Lights podium was topped by Grease Monkey Racing again with the class victory followed by Joel Spaulding’s Design Integrity team runner-up. The Begg’s R&R Repsol GT Lights Team took third place.
In Solo, Wisconsin Sportbike rider Ray Hofman landed the runner-up slot aboard his CBR600 and Alex Lazo from Axton, Virginia was third. Anthony Johnson was fourth and Sean Dwyer was fifth.
