BREA, Calif., Team M4 EMGO Suzuki’s Geoff May and Michael Barnes return to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, for the AMA Supersport season finale after notching their third double-podium in the class. The Suzuki duo finished second and third, respectively, on their M4 EMGO Suzuki GSX-R600s at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Ga., on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2006. This was their second consecutive double-podium in AMA Supersport and their third Supersport double-podium for the year. Finishing second in the 15-lap race, Georgia-native May, 25, was thrilled to pick up his fourth AMA Supersport podium at his home track of Road Atlanta. Thanks to this impressive finish, May will go to the final Mid-Ohio round second overall in the championship points standings. “I feel like my guys deserve our spot in the points,” said May. “We had a little problem at Miller and we’ve been fighting for every single point since then, just trying to scratch and get as many as we can. It feels good and hopefully that’s where we end up at the end of the year.” Likewise, Team M4 EMGO Suzuki’s Barnes is no stranger to the AMA Supersport podium this year. Thanks to Barnes’s podium finishes at this year’s initial Mid-Ohio round and at VIR, this Road Atlanta finish is his third third-place finish in a row. Overall, this is 36-year-old Barnes’ fifth Supersport podium for the season and he is currently fifth overall in the championship points standings. “I just can’t thank these guys enough for putting together such a solid team,” said Barnes. “These Suzuki GSX-R600s are incredible.” Team M4 EMGO Suzuki’s May and Barnes, as well as the rest of the Suzuki support teams, compete in the final round of AMA road racing at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, the weekend of Sept. 29 Oct. 1, 2006.
