Dorna Sports, official rights holder of the MotoGP™ World Championship, is pleased to announce Maybank, Malaysia’s largest financial services group, as its commercial banking partner for this year’s Malaysian Grand Prix on the 21st October. Maybank, which has a strong regional presence in South East Asia, will be visible to the world through extensive trackside advertising, and will benefit from multiple VIP activities throughout the Malaysian Grand Prix. The financial services group will collaborate with MotoGP™ in the official promotion of the event and will be one of the key partners assisting with the region’s ticket sales. Pau Serracanta, Managing Director of Dorna’s Commercial Area, is pleased with the signing of the new agreement: “I’m very happy that we have initiated this partnership with Maybank for the Malaysian Grand Prix. As a young and dynamic bank, its values and way of working are the ideal fit with the MotoGP™ World Championship. I am confident that both sides will benefit from the agreement and hope that we will be able to carry this on in the future.” Datuk Razlan Razali, CEO of the Sepang International Circuit, also commented: “I am extremely pleased with the association of the biggest bank in Malaysia, Maybank, for the Malaysian MotoGP™. It clearly shows the strong interest to this event, which has seen an increase of spectators in the last few years. We welcome Maybank as the official partner to the Malaysian MotoGP™ and hope Maybank will continue to participate in the following years and open the gates for other Malaysian companies as well to be associating to the Malaysian MotoGP.” Meanwhile, B Ravintharan, Head, Cards, Wealth & Payments of Maybank said, “This partnership presents us an exciting opportunity to expand our brand presence in the world of sports as well as offer greater value to all our cardholders in the region. Apart from the exclusive discounts cardholders will enjoy, we will be offering them once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to win paddock passes and grandstand tickets, among many other promotional programmes we have lined up.” Ravintharan added, “Given Maybank’s extensive network throughout this region, this partnership will also enable both parties to expand the reach of the MotoGP to more fans as well as support the promotion of Malaysia as an international sporting destination, particularly in motorsports. Our cardholders are eagerly awaiting this event and we have already seen tremendous interest in our pre-event “Spend & Win” promotion where our grand prize winner will receive a Benelli Naked Bike TNT899 while the first prize winner win a trip for 2 to watch the MotoGP Championship at the upcoming Gran Premio Generali de la Comunitat Valencia in Spain,” he said.
