Gill Campbell to be Honored by the Salinas Valley Chamber of Commerce as Businesswomen of the Year
MONTEREY, Calif., February 3, 2014 – The Salinas Valley Chamber of Commerce will honor Gill Campbell, CEO/general manager of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on February 27 at its annual community awards luncheon with the Businesswoman of the Year Award. Campbell will be recognized alongside the recipients of Businesses (large and small) and Citizen of the Year as well as the Ag Leadership and Spirit of the Community Awards.
Campbell was acknowledged for her leadership in the growth and renown of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, a vital economic engine for the region. She has been the chief executive officer of the world-renown raceway since 2002 and has been the driving force behind the circuit’s successful motorcycle, sports car and historic racing events held each year.
“I am honored to receive this tremendous award,” said Campbell. “It is truly the work of our board of directors, staff and the hundreds of volunteers who comprise the Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula that have allowed for this acknowledgment.”
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca was established in 1957 and has been operated since its inception by the Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP), a not-for-profit 501c(4) corporation. Each race season, SCRAMP donates its net proceeds to the volunteer groups that help organize the races.
