MONTEREY, Calif. — To extend the holiday spirit into the New Year officials at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca today announced that it will extend the phase one ticketing-pricing structure for the 2010 Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix until Friday, January 29. This extension will allow fans to take advantage of the premium discount pricing for tickets to the track’s largest event of the year, with savings of up to 33 percent. A three-day ticket to the MotoGP World Championship extravaganza will cost $90 the weekend of the event, but if fans buy before the January 29 deadline the same ticket can be purchased for just $70. A Sunday general-admission ticket will cost $60 on the day of the event; purchase during the phase one pricing period and the same ticket costs just $40. “We know this a particularly expensive time of the year for people with the holidays upon us,” said Gill Campbell, CEO/general manager of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, explaining the track’s decision, “and we felt the right thing to do was to extend the Phase One pricing deadline until the end of January.” “The tiered pricing structure was enthusiastically received by the MotoGP fans when we introduced it last year,” Campbell added. “We obviously want everyone that wants to to be able to attend the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix, and with the economic crunch still biting, and the holidays here in full force, we’re giving our fans a little bit of breathing room to get their tickets.” The tiered pricing structure for the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix worked to great effect when it was rolled out in 2009, enabling fans to see in advance when the maximum discounts would be offered. The phase one pricing structure for the 2010 event now ends Friday, January 29. The next deadline date to note is Wednesday, March 31, when the phase two pricing expires. Phase three pricing ends at 4:00 p.m. PST on Monday, July 19, with all tickets purchased after that time being at the face-value cost. Fans can purchase tickets via mazdaraceway.com, ticketmaster.com, or by calling 800 327-7322.
