Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca has an agreement in place that should see classes from the AMA Pro Racing Superbike Championship series run in support of the track’s Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix July 27-29, 2012. “We have a verbal agreement right now with AMA [Pro Racing] for 2012,” Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca General Manager and Chief Executive Officer Gill Campbell told Roadracingworld.com Wednesday. Asked when that agreement would be formalized in writing, Campbell said, “Hopefully within the next 10 days.” Campbell went on to say that the 2011 Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix was successful and the smoothest they had run. “It was absolutely was,” said Campbell. “And thanks to all the fans, because they made it a memorable year. It went very, very smoothly. When I looked out on the facility on Sunday and saw all of those fans, to quote an English expression, it warmed the cockles of my heart.” In an address at the AMA Pro Road Racing awards banquet September 5 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Atlas stated that the organization’s 2012 race schedule would be released within approximately five weeks.
