MCBAIN UNVEILS 2007 ACCELERATION RACE TEAM
Suzuki OTSFF Acceleration Race Team proudly sponsored by Alberta Cycle, is pleased to announce their participation in the 2007 Canadian Superbike Series featuring race pilot, Clint McBain. This exciting new team will be competing in the Superbike class aboard the all new 2007 Suzuki GSX-R1000 motorcycles with additional support from Importations Thibault Ltd.
Continuing one of the longest Rider/Manufacturer relationships in the industry, Suzuki Canada is reuniting with team Manager and rider, Clint McBain. First supported in 2001 by the Canadian Manufacturer, Suzuki has continually backed McBain in his National title quests and victories. “The Suzuki product is phenomenal” remarked Clint McBain, “we’re thrilled to be representing this company once again.”
Making their debut on the Canadian road racing circuit, OTSFF will also be appearing as a title sponsor for the new Suzuki based effort. Their international involvement in motocross racing has harvested much success and laid the foundation for their recent expansion. Working closely with team Rider/Manager Clint McBain, Andre Laurin commented, “We have long anticipated our involvement in the road racing arena and are very excited to be joining forces with Suzuki Canada and Clint McBain for the upcoming season.”
Backing this years Suzuki OTSFF Acceleration Race team is another relatively new face on the National circuit. Alberta Cycle’s family owned and operated business of 75 years, is Canada’s very first Suzuki dealership and is based out of Edmonton, Alberta. The long-time Suzuki franchise played a key role in bringing the team together this season. Alberta Cycle owner, Mike McGrath remarked, ” The opportunity to come into the series with Clint and the Suzuki OTSFF Acceleration team, is one we are very excited to be a part of.”
Also coming on board for the 2007 Series run, is the Quebec based distributor, Importations Thibault Ltd. (ITL) with warehouses in both Sherbrooke and Calgary. ITL has brought some of their leading products to the team including Suomy helmets and racing leathers, Puma boots, Leo Vince Exhausts and Repsol lubricants to name just a few. This rapidly growing distributorship is becoming ever more present in Canadian racing and has been a significant addition to the new Suzuki team. “We couldn’t be happier with Clint McBain’s race effort. He’s a fine ambassador for the sport and we look forward to a long and successful relationship,” added Eric Ferland.
Leading the charge for 2007 from the pits will be Crew Chief Patrice Goyette. Sharing his technical and business expertise, the team will be based out of his Quebec shop this year. The big change hasn’t deterred technician, Chuck Downie from making a return though. Working at McBain’s side during his 600 Sportbike Championship season in 2002, this Alberta tuner is excited to be back and anxious to win another title.
Currently Clint McBain and Crew Chief, Patrice Goyette are preparing to head south for the start of their pre-season testing. “We have some terrific support from Joe Skidd of SSS Suspension ” noted Clint McBain, “and we’re anxious to start dialing in the bikes. We have several events planned to ensure we are completely prepared for contesting the Canadian Superbike Championship this year and to make sure the team and all our sponsors are standing on top of the podium. “
