Savannah, GA Hot and humid weather was the rule this weekend as Kevin Mendez of Miami Lakes, FL took his KRM Racing Bimota 1000 to victory in the Pirelli Diablo 600 Challenge. Mendez a CCS regular and past race champion, was a full 10 seconds in front of his competition at the end of the 10-lap Sunday morning sprint. Russell Proctor of Wake Forest, NC on his Burlington Yamaha R6 took the second spot on the podium. Alfredo Braca of Granite Falls, NC pleasantly surprised to find that his effort brought his Ducati 848 home third. This is the first season CCS has run the Pirelli Diablo 600 Challenge. The series will have run at 50 events by the close of the 2010 season, allowing a host of competitors the opportunity to vie for trophies and cash from the series sponsors Pirelli, Sebimoto, Dragon Racing Fuels, Traxxion Dynamics and Full Spectrum at each CCS event. Riders are required to run a SuperSport-legal bike with Pirelli tires as a minimum for class entry. Riders increase their payout when they use equipment from the other class sponsors. The Championship Cup Series is the largest amateur motorcycle road racing organization in the United States with 4,000 licensed riders. The CCS Series will run 51 events at popular tracks around the united states for 2010. Tracks include Road America, Daytona, Loudon, Firebird, Heartland Park, and Virginia International among other fine venues.
