Mesa won the Unlimited Grand Prix race at Homestead-Miami Speedway after a victorious day of racing in near perfect weather. Mesa nabbed the holeshot with his Westside Performance Suzuki GSX-R 1000 and led the race from start to finish. Bruno Silva, Armando Ferrer, and Sean Dwyer we close behind and looking for any opportunity to pass. After the first lap, Mesa had opened a small gap and was unreachable. Behind him, the tight group of three battled for third place with Ferrer making his move up to second on his Racersprice.com Kawasaki ZX-10R just before the halfway mark. But, a mistake going into turn six two laps later forced him wide, letting Silva and Dwyer by, dropping him down to fourth place. Mesa was able to increase his gap ever so slightly and took the checkered flag without challenge. Silva finished second on his ART Performance Suzuki GSX-R 1000, and Dwyer third on his Suzuki GSX-R 1000.

“What a ride,”

Mesa exclaimed on the podium. “My Westside Performance bike has been working great all day. We had a little bit of problems in the first race. But, my team got everything done and I’m up here.” Of the competition, he stated, “At the beginning, I knew they were right behind me and I warmed up my Dunlop tires a little bit better and I was able to get a little gap. Once I got the little gap, I just started kind of measuring them a little bit so I wouldn’t crash like last time over here. We managed to keep it up. I want to thank, of course my Westside Performance team, Dunlop, all my friends, my girlfriend that came today, and everybody. Thank you.”

“The bike’s working really good,” Silva stated. “The race was amazing. Amazing. Congrats to Stefano on great riding. Riding with these guys, every single mistake you commit, you’re gonna’ pay for it. I committed a few mistakes, so I’ll try to fix it for the next one. I want to say thanks first of all to God for the opportunity to be here, my family for all their support, ART Performance to give me the best equipment, Eric from GMD Computrack, and Pirelli Tires. Those guys are doing an amazing job.”

Dwyer commented, “We had a lot of problems this weekend with mechanical stuff. No excuses. These guys were riding really good. Everybody’s riding fast. You’ve got to be on your game.” He thanked Dunlop tires, Woodcraft, Bell Helmets, and all his female pit crew for the weekend.

Mesa was the biggest winner of the weekend finishing first in eight of his nine classes. He also won the GTU, Unlimited Supersport, Middleweight Supersport, Heavyweight Supersport, Unlimited Superbike, Middleweight Superbike, and Middleweight Grand Prix races.
