Guzzitech.com is proud to announce the overwhelming success of 2007 MG Cup contingency racing program. In 2007, over $1500 in prize money was awarded to Moto Guzzi racers with podium finishes with American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association (AHRMA) and the Willow Springs Motorcycle Club (WSMC). The year’s highlights included MG Cup rider Gianfranco “Guaro” Guareschi on a prototype water cooled two valve MGS-01 Moto Guzzi beating pro rider Larry Pegram, Italian Superbike Champion Valter Bartolini and a squadron of factory prepped NCR Milonas both days in the AHRMA Battle of the Twins F1 races at Daytona. Other 2007 MG Cup highlights included 2nd place podium finishes in Formula 750 and Formula Vintage at Daytona both days by Ken Nemoto of Japan on a 1972 Moto Guzzi V7 Sport and 1st place victories in Vintage Superbike Lightweight both days at Willow Springs by Sean Fader on a 1981 Moto Guzzi V65. For 2008, the MG Cup program will be expanded to support Moto Guzzi racers in all WERA classes as well as AHRMA and WSMC with the following cash payouts: $100 1st Place in any class $50 2nd Place in any class $25 3rd Place in any class Further, in order to recognize and support Moto Guzzi riders’ current efforts in Land Speed Racing, The MG Cup program will also pay $250 for each recognized land speed record attained in 2008 by a Guzzi in an event sanctioned with the major LSR organizations (SCTA, et al). The MG Cup program is made possible by the passionate support of Moto Guzzi dealers and riders led by Moto Guzzi parts supplier MG Cycle (www.mgcycle.com). The program has also received abundant support from the West Virginia Moto Guzzi Riders (www.mountainguzzi.com) led by Lemuel Stevens. Guzzitech.com would like to thank all program participants including the racers, dealers, and spectators. This grass roots effort to support Moto Guzzi racing would not be possible without your support. Guzzitech.com is actively looking for more sponsors for the MG Cup.
