K Squared Racing rider Kenyon Kluge, who also serves as Zero’s Director of Engineering, will be competing on his specially modified Zero S in the race. Last weekend Kenyon took first place at Laguna Seca’s 2010 Refuel event and earlier this year Kluge competed at the inaugural North American TTXGP where his teammate Shawn Higbee captured the win on his Zero/Agni motorcycle and made history as the winner of the first North American electric motorcycle championship race. Developed as a collaboration to showcase the latest in electric motorcycle technology, the FIM e-Power International Championship consists of special races to be held alongside select rounds of current FIM sanctioned events such as the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix. “Electric motorcycle racing is evolving rapidly and by supporting K Squared Racing Zero is helping showcase what is possible by using a modified production model,” said Gene Banman, CEO of Zero Motorcycles. “Kenyon is an extremely talented racer and we are proud to be supporting him and K Squared racing as he sets out to represent Zero during the FIM e-Power International Championship.” Zero Motorcycles is no stranger to competition. This year, prior to their historic win at the inaugural TTXGP, Zero Motorcycles claimed first place in the final heat of a European off-road race and third overall amongst a field of 250 gas motorcycles. In 2009, Zero Motorcycles held the world’s first all-electric 24-hour off-road race. Zero Motorcycles race proven technology is now used as part of Zero’s Z-Force powertrain in the 2010 production line-up of the Zero S and Zero DS. In addition to its involvement in the FIM e-Power Championship race during the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix, Zero Motorcycles will be on-site hosting demos of its 2010 line-up. Interested riders can now sign up in advance to demo the highly popular Zero X and MX, or the street legal Zero S and Zero DS.
