MULTIPLE TT WINNER DUNLOP SET FOR MCE BSB APPEARANCES WITH BUILDBASE BMW

Michael Dunlop has announced his plans for the 2014 season with BMW Motorrad UK which will also include the seven-time TT winner lining up for the opening two rounds of the MCE British Superbike Championship with the Buildbase BMW team.

Dunlop will line up at the Brands Hatch and Oulton Park events alongside regular Buildbase BMW riders Ryuichi Kiyonari and James Westmoreland as the team aim for their strongest campaign to date after securing their best results in 2013 including a pole position and a position in the Showdown.

The Northern Irishman’s MCE BSB debut at Brands Hatch this Easter will also be one of the only opportunities this year that TT heroes Ian Hutchinson and Dunlop, who between them hold 15 TT wins, will go head to head on track onboard Superbike machinery.

Dunlop said: “I’m really pleased to have signed for such a strong and competitive team. The BMW S 1000 RR certainly has the speed for the TT and, with my experience, the support from BMW Motorrad Motorsport and Hawk Racing; I know we have a race-winning package. I have found a team that I am really comfortable with and the support from BMW Motorrad Motorsport will make us a force to be reckoned with this year.”

Buildbase BMW Team Principal, Stuart Hicken added: “We are extremely pleased to have assembled such an experienced racing team. We have been working on it for a while and I genuinely believe that with Michael, the technical expertise from BMW Motorrad Motorsport and the BMW S 1000 RR, we have secured all the elements we need to be at the sharp end, challenging for a great result at the TT.”
