The second qualification session held today at Bol d’Or confirmed yesterday’s results, as the Honda Michelin Power Research Team remains the fastest. Matthieu Lagrive signed the best lap of the session in 1’40.405. Josep Monge also improved his lap times on the Honda Michelin despite a throat injury, as a result of a minor accident in the pit lane yesterday during the nocturnal tests. Yamaha Austria Racing Team confirms its second position, as Igor Jerman and Steve Martin improved their lap times as well. Gwen Giabbani, who had the best individual time yesterday in 1’40.900, could not improve this morning and closed its session with a minor fall. Yamaha France GMT 94 completes the top-three. Sébastien Gimbert, David Checa and Erwan Nigon constitute a very homogeneous team and managed to be slighlty faster than the Suzuki Endurance Racing Team, fourth. SERT manager Dominique Meliand remains confident for the race, as he knows the potential of his highly experienced team has been crowned nine time endurance world champion. Team GSR Kawasaki is still in ambush in fifth position, ahead the quiet yet efficient Honda National Motos. The Yamaha BK Maco Moto Racing Team managed to move one place up. The Slovak team receives at Bol d’Or the support of Joshua Hayes, who is replacing Victor Carrasco, still recovering from the wrist he broke down at Suzuka. Joshua Hayes won the latest AMA Superbike race and finished second of that championship, behind Mat Mladin. Suzuki RAC 41 City Bike and Kawasaki Bolliger Team Switzerland made two great come back: they are now in the top ten and will take part of the Superpole this afternoon. Despite two small crashes this morning with Cédric Tangre and Mathieu Gines, the Suzuki Junior Team LMS managed to get the tenth place. They are the first Superstock machine, just ahead of the Kawasaki Maccio Racing, who confirms that they should be a contender for class victory, against the Suzuki of Qatar Endurance Racing Team. Between the Kawasaki Maccio Racing and the QERT we find several Formula EWC bikes, in the following order: RT Racing Team, second in the provisional championship, Team 18 Sapeurs Pompiers, who seems to have solved the serious brake problem they faced in the first session, Phase One Endurance, Team X-One Amadeus and AM Moto Racing Competition. Please note that Phase One Endurance is entering its 25th year of racing in World Endurance! Created by Martin Prout and Russel Benney, who is still the manager, the British team can be proud of several victories, plenty of podiums and three world titles in 1993, 2000 and 2003. The Superpole, which is putting back on track the best ten teams to reallocate the slots in the final starting grid, is scheduled to start at 3:40 pm.
