OVER 5,500 DRIVERS & RIDERS HELP DRIVE RECORD-SETTING YEAR 2013 schedule announced with gift certificates available now at special holiday savings DUBLIN, OHIO (December 14, 2012) The Mid-Ohio School’s 20th season finished late last month, graduating a record number of drivers and riders. Including over 5,500 participants in 2012, the all time graduate total exceeds 51,000. These drivers and riders participated in 18 courses over 200 dates this year, the majority held at The Mid-Ohio School’s home base, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio. Teenage drivers accounted for 2,400 of the total this year. The Key to Safe Teen Driving Program, sponsored by KeyBank and Kumho Tires, featured its most expansive tour yet, visiting 14 cities on 24 dates in Indiana, Michigan, New York, Ohio and Wisconsin. Motorcyclists came out in droves in 2013 to ride the same track as the AMA Pro Racing stars. Over 1,500 riders brought their bikes to The Mid-Ohio School for one of nearly two dozen Performance Track Riding days. Since launching two-wheeled programs in 2006, the school now boasts over 10,500 all time riders. “Without the support of American Honda, a partnership 19 years and running, and all our partners, these record enrollments would not be possible,” said Steve Bidlack, The Mid-Ohio School director. “Next year’s schedule will feature more weekend dates than ever before, and we’re excited to showcase a new fleet of Hondas and Acuras to our customers, including the brand new Acura ILX.” In addition to the Key to Safe Teen Driving Program, The Mid-Ohio School participated in other special events in. Other opportunities included corporate driving and riding programs, a partnership with the Ohio State Highway Patrol promoting the Click it or Ticket campaign, the Westfield Insurance and expanding the Key to Safe Teen Driving Program to offer a scholarship. The Mid-Ohio School provides professional driving and riding instruction to drivers and motorcyclists of all skill levels. The school’s 16 automobile courses include Defensive Driving, High Performance and Racing programs. The motorcycle side features two Performance Track Riding formats. Students enjoy classroom sessions, skill drills, expert private instruction and lapping on the same track that challenges the world’s top racers. The school is a member of the AAA Approved School Network and the most recent recipient of the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Partners for Safety Award. In 20 seasons, The Mid-Ohio School has 51,400 graduates, including 15,800 teenagers and 10,500 motorcycle riders.
