From a press release issued by Miller Motorsports Park: Miller Motorsports Park Hosts Track Operators Workshop TOOELE VALLEY, UTAH (February 19, 2008) Road racing track operators from throughout North America converged on Miller Motorsports Park this week for a two-day workshop designed to address common issues of concern. The inaugural Miller Motorsports Park Track Operators Workshop, held February 18 and 19, brought together 69 individuals representing 25 racetracks throughout the United States and Canada and industry representatives from the insurance and racing fuel fields. During the two-day workshop, issues of concern were addressed by specialists in each area. Among the subjects discussed were the future of road racing series, legal and insurance issues facing racetracks, paving technology, “green” racing fuel technology, community and governmental relations, track and spectator safety, sponsored event economics, alternate revenue streams, the “country club” concept, open track days, and attracting and keeping corner workers. There were also specialized sessions for larger and smaller tracks addressing their unique issues. “This workshop was something I’ve wanted to do for a long time,” said Alan Wilson, CEO/General Manager of Miller Motorsports Park. “It is something that has been needed in the industry, but I’ve never had the proper venue to host it. Miller Motorsports Park provides us such a venue, and the turnout has been very encouraging. In many respects these track operators are rivals, but we have spent two days coming together to help ourselves and each other and I am sure it will pay benefits throughout the industry. We hope this will become an annual tradition.” Miller Motorsports Park’s racing season opens over the weekend of March 22-23 with Round 1 of the 2008 Icebreaker Kart Championship. The first major event will be the return of the American Le Mans Series for the third annual Larry H. Miller Dealerships Utah Grand Prix Presented by The Grand and Little America Hotels over the weekend of May 16-18, followed two weeks later by the first North American appearance in four years of the HANNSPREE FIM SUPERBIKE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP®, along with the Honda Summit of Speed featuring the AMA Superbike Championship, May 29 June 1.
