Miller Motorsports Park Kicks Off 2008 Racing Season This Weekend

Masters of the Mountains Series Kicks off at Miller Motorsports Park; MMP Day at Utah Jazz on April 12 TOOELE VALLEY, UTAH (April 9, 2008) The 2008 season at Miller Motorsports Park is heating up in earnest and, for motorcycle racing enthusiasts, this will be the best year yet at the state-of-the-art road racing facility with the addition of the HANNSPREE SUPERBIKE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP event over the weekend of May 29 June 1. The track’s motorcycle racing season will get underway this weekend as the Honda Presents the Plaza Cycle Masters of the Mountains motorcycle road racing series will hit the track Saturday and Sunday for the first of seven rounds scheduled for 2008. The series was developed by Miller Motorsports Park to encourage and develop fun and competitive amateur road racing in the region. Riders will be competing in 18 different classes for contingency money (provided by sponsors for using their products in some classes), trophies and championship points. Also on Saturday is Round 3 of the five-round Icebreaker Kart Championship, which was developed by Miller Motorsports Park to encourage and develop kart racing in Utah and the surrounding region. Karters will be competing on the Miller Kart Track for trophies and points in their respective classes towards the overall Icebreaker Series class championships. On Saturday night, race fans in Salt Lake City are in for a special treat, as it will be Miller Motorsports Park Night at the EnergySolutions Arena. Miller Motorsports Park will have a big display starting at 4:30 pm on the Plaza at the corner of South Temple and 300 West. The display will include a number of modified Ford Mustangs from the Ford Racing High Performance Driving School and an example of the brand-new Ford Mustang FR500S that will compete in the new Ford Racing Mustang Challenge for the Miller Cup, a nationwide professional racing series that kicks off in May. Fans will also be able to try their hand at the Pit Stop Challenge, changing tires on a NASCAR stock car against the clock for fun and prizes. In addition, Sandy-based Corsa Motorsports will be displaying their Ferrari 430GT racing car that will race in the upcoming Larry H. Miller Dealerships Utah Grand Prix presented by The Grand and Little America Hotels, an American Le Mans Series event scheduled for May 16-18. Finally, Miller Motorsports Park’s new “Unofficial Ambassadors of Speed,” Lloyd and Floyd, will make their public debut with their band, Lloyd and Floyd and the High Octanes, starting at approximately 5:30 pm.
