WorldSBK and Misano extend partnership for four more years

The Italian venue will continue hosting a round of the FIM Superbike World Championship.

Dorna WSBK Organization is delighted to announce the renewal of the partnership with the Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli” to host an official round of the FIM Superbike World Championship for a further four-year period (2016-2019).

With the 2015 edition, Misano has become the Italian venue with the highest number of WorldSBK events ever hosted (23) and the third overall, behind Phillip Island and Assen.

The recent, full resurfacing of the track has further increased the already excellent standards of the circuit, making the Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli” a true state-of-the-art motorsport venue. Always a riders’ favourite as well as one of the most attended by fans, over the years the event has produced some of the most memorable moments in World Superbike history.

Daniel Carrera, WSBK Championship Director: “We are really pleased to continue our journey together with the Misano World Circuit ‘Marco Simoncelli’, a venue that has always shown great interest to the Superbike World Championship and to motorcycle racing in general. A four-year renewal helps both parties to plan the future editions with renewed confidence, allowing us to do our best to keep the Riviera di Rimini Round as one the best and most enjoyable events on the calendar for fans, riders and teams.”

Below the official statement from the Santa Monica Spa Chairmanship:

“Santa Monica Spa Chairmanship expresses full satisfaction for the renewed agreement reinforcing the extraordinary relationship between the Circuit and Dorna. A renewed ritual, confirming a Sport’s calendar of high international value even for the future years. The World Superbike Championship offers the possibility to converse constantly with our reference world, feeding the widespead passion that our area expresses with always superior consistency. The virtuous collaboration between Santa Monica and local administrations carries on, with the common purpose of reaching stronger returns for both the touristic and the production industry systems”
