The appeal of Mat Mladin’s disqualification from the AMA Superbike races August 16-17 at VIRginia International Raceway will not be heard this weekend at Road Atlanta, according to AMA Pro Racing Special Projects Manager Bill Syfan. Mladin won both races in Virginia, his eighth and ninth wins of the season, but in the technical inspection following the second race the crankshaft in his Rockstar Makita Suzuki GSX-R1000 was questioned. After further investigation, the part was deemed illegal, and Mladin was stripped of his wins. Mladin’s team has appealed the ruling. Last week AMA Pro Racing Director of Competition Colin Fraser said, “Our hope is to resolve the issue at Road Atlanta”¦” But there will be no appeal hearing this weekend in Georgia. “We’re in the paperwork phase right now,” Syfan told Roadracingworld.com Thursday. “I’m producing a document that will layout who, what, when, where and why of everything up to this point, when things were received, more detailed information about our inspection. And we’ll give that to Yoshimura [Rockstar Makita Suzuki]. Then they can send in their paperwork off of that.” AMA Pro Racing’s hope now is to complete the appeal process before the AMA Superbike Championship finale September 27-28 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
