MÃœNCH signs two year sponsoring contract with SCHOTT Solar Two-year contract with solar energy company secures the future of German e-racing team It is official: Introducing SCHOTT Solar AG as their new main sponsor MÃœNCH was able to once again attract public interest. The globally acting photovoltaic manufacturer which is known to be the market and technology leader of solar receiver production for solar power plants that use parabolic through technology signed a two year sponsoring contract with MÃœNCH racing team. In the future joint appearances and cooperated projects are supposed to clarify the connection between e-mobility and renewable energies. It is common sense for all fans of the electronic racing sport that e- mobility is the key for less emission and noise that is caused by traffic. However, the people’s acceptance is not a given factor yet. MÃœNCH tries to resolve this problem by introducing the electric bike. Because of its possibility to generate the required power with less noise and emission it resembles the future of motorized locomotion. The team’s developments and the signed two-year contract with SCHOTT Solar proof that MÃœNCH tries to implement its principles into the racing sport. “Since the beginning of the year we’ve worked on our cooperation with SCHOTT Solar. During the past few months we found lots of valuable shared interests that we are about to conjointly approach” summarizes Thomas Petsch, Manager of the MÃœNCH Racing GmbH. For him sustainability is one of the major concerns that need to be faced. “For me it is clear: E- powered vehicles are only reasonable if the energy they need to operate is indeed generated through renewable resources. Hence, we are very proud to welcome SCHOTT Solar to our team, an internationally acting company that is a pioneer in the field of solar energy.” The photovoltaic company from Mainz values the cooperation as well. Dr. Martin Heming, CEO of SCHOTT Solar AG emphasizes the topics importance:”E-mobility will be a very interesting topic in the future which rightly attracts public interest. Because of the close link with solar energy it creates a win-win situation for both, power supply and techniques. Until recently solar energy was fed into the already existing grid and directly consumed. Unfortunately this causes a power oversupply in some regions. SCHOTT believes that the e-vehicles’ power can be controlled and therefore adjusted to supply peaks with according charging intervals. During lunch break for example when there is lots of power in the system SCHOTT uses renewable energies to charge a vehicle for its next ride. This creates a flexible buffer for power supply.” Besides to the joint appearances both parties plan to conjointly work in projects dealing with the topic of providing the electric bike with energy. “In the medium term we will arrange for our TTE, our team attire and our tent labeling to be changed according to the new SCHOTT design. In addition we plan to give away incentives and fan material” promises Thomas Petsch. Until now we only have a rough draft of how the team attire and TTE will look like this season. First real pictures of the new designed bike can be seen presumably mid April. Further Information about SCHOTT Solar: With their premium products SCHOTT Solar enables the usage of the sun’s inexhaustible potential to generate renewable energy. For this purpose SCHOTT produces essential components for photovoltaic modules and solar power plants that use parabolic through technology. The company belongs to a group of a few that manufactures crystalline wafers, solar cells and photovoltaic modules in the photovoltaic industry. Because SCHOTT’s twenty years of experience the company is trend setter in the thin film technology as well as market and technology leader in the field of producing receivers for solar power plants that use parabolic through technology. These receivers are key components which centrally generate power and are able to provide whole cities with the required power. SCHOTT solar develops and produces their special materials, components and frameworks in Germany, the Czech Republic, the USA and in Spain, mainly for the following industries: household appliances, pharmacy, solar energy, electronics, optics and automotives. Its innovation and technological expertise reaches back into the 1950s. SCHOTT’s principal stock holder is the SCOTT AG, Mainz. SCHOTT. For the 2009/2010 fiscal year the SCHOTT group generated a global sales volume of 2,9 Billion Euro with its 17.500 employees Further information about MÃœNCH: For motorbike enthusiasts the brand MÃœNCH is a legend. Its founder Friedel Münch caused great furore in the past, primarily on the world’s racing tracks and secondly with his bike’s uncompromising and for the 1950s unusal version. Thomas Petsch revived the legendary “Mammut” in 2000 and caused this strongest ready made motorbike to become an icon. Since the beginning of the e-powered motorbike racing series in 2009 MÃœNCH was a part of the scene and was able to celebrate outstanding achievements in 2010: World Champion in the important constructing engineer category in both racing series and the win of the TTXGP World Champion title by Matthias Himmelmann.
