TORONTO, Ont. (December 31, 2013) – Five events at four venues have been confirmed for the 2014 Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship, with the possibility of one or two additional dates being added. Canada’s national motorcycle road racing series will open at Shannonville Motorsport Park in Shannonville, Ont. June 6-8, and is currently slated to close with the traditional doubleheader at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ont. August 15-17. Races are also confirmed for Autodrome St-Eustache in St-Eustache, Que., just north of Montreal, on July 4-6, as well as Atlantic Motorsport Park in Shubenacadie, N.S. July 25-27. “We are very pleased to confirm these venues for the 2014 Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship,” said Kevin Graham, founder of Frontline CSBK Inc., which organizes the national tour. “The consistency of dates and venues from year to year has always been a hallmark of our series and has helped fans and racers plan their summer travel.” The June 7-9 season opener will mark the 50th Superbike national to be held at Shannonville. The Mopar Canadian Superbike competitors will use the 2.45km (1.53-mile) ‘Pro’ track layout, and the event will be organized with the assistance of RACE. The series will make its 19th visit to St-Eustache, which returned to the national schedule in 2011 after a seven-year absence. Local group ASM Motorsport will assist with the round on the 1.93km (1.2-mile) circuit. The Atlantic Roadracing League will assist with the AMP round at the end of July. The challenging 2.56km (1.6-mile) venue has hosted 30 Canadian Superbike events. The world-renowned 3.9km (2.459-mile) CTMP facility will stage its 34th and 35th Canadian Superbike national events. “Our race tracks offer a wide variety of challenges to our racers and bring out the best in Canadian competition,” said Colin Fraser, Director of Competition for the Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship. “From the technical intricacies of Shannonville, St-Eustache or AMP to the high speeds of CTMP, racers in our series must adapt to a range of tests.” The Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship intends to put the new Castrol Raceway road course in Edmonton on its schedule for 2015. The coming season will represent the 35th year of national Superbike racing in Canadian, with the first round held in Edmonton in 1980. The 2014 season will be the third for Mopar as title sponsor. In 2013 Jordan Szoke of Brantford, Ont. won his ninth Canadian Superbike crown in a dramatic title fight that went down to the wire. Race wins were also scored by series runner-up Alex Welsh of Uxbridge, Ont., Jodi Christie of Keene, Ont. and Bodhi Edie of Warman, Sask. 2014 MOPAR CSBK Schedule Rd 1 June 6-8 Shannonville Motorsport Park, Shannonville, Ont Rd 2 July 4-6 Autodrome St-Eustache, St-Eustache, Que.
