TOOELE, UT (May 29, 2011) – The rain that began to fall at the end of yesterday’s action at Miller Motorsports Park continued into Day 2 of the BigM Weekend Present by Lucas Oil, leaving riders to pick their way around the circuit in wet, 43°F conditions for final qualifying. Roadracingworld.com’s Benny Solis caused no surprise by claiming pole in the AMA Pro Motorcycle-Superstore.com SuperSport class, but two less-familiar names rose to new heights in the session, GP Bike Parts’ Travis Ohge and Enviva Nutraceutic’s Charles Strong going 2-3 in the Q2 session. Neither, however, could approach the times laid down yesterday by Y.E.S./LTD Racing’s David Gaviria, Vesrah Suzuki’s Corey Alexander, and Gaviria’s LTD teammate, Tomas Puerta, who will round out the front row of today’s race. While GP Bike Parts’ Cameron Beaubier turned in the quickest lap of AMA Pro Daytona SportBike’s final qualifying, Team Latus Motor’s Racing’s Jason DiSalvo could sit back and afford to let him do so, having laid down a blistering time in yesterday’s session that earned DiSalvo his second pole of the season. Celtic Racing/Fast by Ferracci young-gun PJ Jacobsen will start second on the grid, with Josh Herrin (Monster Energy Graves Yamaha) and Beaubier P3 and P4, respectively. Photo by Brian J. NelsonThe AMA Pro National Guard SuperBike riders were the final morning session to relearn the track on rain tires, their Q2 session serving more as research than actual qualifying. Iron Horse BMW’s Chris Peris topped the final qualifying outing, but with yesterday’s times having set the start grid for Monday’s race, the front row belongs to pole-earner Josh Hayes (Monster Energy Graves Yamaha), Rockstar Makita Suzuki teammates Blake Young and Tommy Hayden, and National Guard Jordan Suzuki’s Roger Hayden. The Sunday schedule having been revised due to weather, AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 final qualifying has been moved to 3:55 p.m. Today’s two races, Motorcycle-Superstore.com SuperSport and Daytona SportBike, are set for 12 p.m. and 4:40 p.m. MDT, respectively. Fans have several ways to follow today’s races online: Live Timing is available on the www.amaproracing.com website and via apps for both iPhone and Android, and flag-to-flag race play-by-plays can be found at twitter.com/AMAProLIVE.
