From a press release issued by Travis Marshall and CCS South: Championship Cup Series South kicked off its inaugural season this past weekend at MSR Houston in Angleton, TX. This was not only the first race for CCS South but the first motorcycle race ever at MSR Houston. Along with plenty of fans, most of the current top names in the region in motorcycle racing turned out, including former 500cc World Champion Kevin Schwantz. CCS Director of Operations, Kevin Elliott said “We were happy to be a part of the Inaugural CCS-South event at MSR-Houston. The new CCS-South staff worked hard to make the whole experience a positive one and with the help of the MSR-Houston management, the event went off as smooth as I’ve ever seen. The racers were great, they put on an exciting show for the spectators that braved the poor weather conditions and help make the first motorcycle race at MSR-Houston a positive impression for the area.” CCS-South is devoted to making this new series a successful one. Travis Marshall said about Sunday’s action, “The first green flag, the first checkered flag and the relief of getting CCS-South started and going was an awesome feeling.” Travis also reports that “¦as the South series grows it will continue to be innovative in how we run our series.” That is a bonus to all racers on the competitive level. February 28-March 2nd, CCS-South will be in competition at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. This event kicks off the nation’s largest motorcycle party, Daytona Bike Week and is precursor to the world’s most prestigious motorcycle race, the 67th Annual Daytona 200 that will run on March 9th. Following Daytona, the next stop on the inaugural CCS-South racing tour will be at Eagles Canyon Raceway March 15-16 located in Decatur, Texas. This is the second track hosting its racing debut at their facility. Riders will be challenged on their 2.5 mile, 11 turn course. For more information or to obtain directions, see the Eagles Canyon website at www.eaglescanyon.com April’s race will be back at MSR-Houston.
