After 21 years serving AMA Pro racers, club racers and track day riders, Sport Tire Services Inc., is in the process of closing down its facility in Paso Robles, California and will be going out of business Jan 31, 2011. “This may seem hard for some of you to believe, but I remember very well when we started this gig for Dunlop Tires back in 1989 – we couldn’t sell a Dunlop superbike slick at the race track! The competition at the time (Michelin) had a ‘lock’ on the racing slick tire market. It has been an incredible run,” said Dennis Smith president of STS Inc., “..but someone once said: All good things must come to an end. And this one certainly has.” “We have nothing but the utmost respect for Dunlop and feel proud of what STS and Dunlop did accomplish together over the last 2 decades. They now are the dominant tire brand in America and we wish them well in the future. “Terry Newby and I would like for our friends to know that we do plan on staying in the motorcycle industry. This is where we have made our living, both of us, for the last 28 years, plus we both love to ride motorcycles.” A BIG “THANK YOU” also goes out to Jim Allen as well as all of our racing customers, dealers and friends in the racing community from Terry, Gabe and Dennis! We hope to see you all again some where down the road……… Until the end of Jan. this phone line will remain open: 805-434-4810.
