Ragin’ In Cajun Country: Yamaha Extended Service/Graves/Yamaha’s Cameron Beaubier Is Quickest DSB Rider At NOLA Test; Teammate Hayden 2nd-Quickest Overall New Orleans, LA June 28, 2012 Following up his breakthrough weekend at Barber Motorsports Park where he won the pole and both AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike races, Yamaha Extended Service/Graves/Yamaha rider Cameron Beaubier kept his momentum going and was the quickest DSB rider overall at the official AMA Pro Racing test held Tuesday and Wednesday at NOLA Motorsports Park. Cameron’s teammate Tommy Hayden, who was quickest in one of the sessions at NOLA, ended up second-quickest overall on the brand-new 2.75-mile, 16-turn track. 19-year-old Cameron was fast throughout the two days of testing, despite slightly tweaking his wrist in one of the sessions on Tuesday. “I hurt my wrist a little bit in one of the earlier sessions, but it felt a lot better after letting it rest overnight,” Cameron said. “On the second day of the test, it really didn’t bother me, and I was able to set my fastest time of the test in the morning.” Cameron did a lap of 1:42.442 aboard his #6 Y.E.S./Graves/Yamaha YZF-R6® in Wednesday morning’s second test session. Teammate Tommy Hayden, aboard his #22 Y.E.S./Graves/Yamaha R6, did his fastest lap in Wednesday morning’s first test session, and his time of 1:42.741 proved to be the second-fastest lap out of all eight test sessions over the two days. So, the pair of Y.E.S/Graves/Yamaha riders ended up first- and second-quickest overall at NOLA. Cameron and Tommy are looking forward to returning to NOLA Motorsports Park on the weekend of October 5-7 for the Triumph Big Kahuna New Orleans. Meanwhile, the next race for the Y.E.S./Graves/Yamaha team will be at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, in Lexington, OH, on July 13-15. More, from a press release issued by Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A.: Blue By You: Josh Hayes Is Quickest Rider At NOLA Test; Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha Teammate Herrin 5th-Quickest Overall New Orleans, LA June 28, 2012 Coming off a dominant weekend at Barber Motorsports Park where he won the pole and both AMA Pro National Guard SuperBike races, Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha rider and two-time reigning SuperBike title-holder Josh Hayes went right back to work at NOLA Motorsports Park where he was the quickest rider overall at the official AMA Pro Racing test held this past Tuesday and Wednesday. Josh Herrin, who is Josh’s teammate and is in his rookie SuperBike season aboard the #2 Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha YZF-R1, ended the two-day test session as the fifth-fastest rider overall on the brand-new 2.75-mile, 16-turn NOLA road course. Despite the oppressive heat, “Mississippi Madman” Josh Hayes laid down a scorching, fastest-lap-time of 1:39.282 to best all of the more than 55 riders who competed at the test. Afterwards, he said, “I really like this track a lot. It’s challenging, but a lot of fun. When we come back in October, the temperatures should be a little lower, so I think we’ll be able to improve our lap times even more.” Josh continued, “I love that NOLA is so close to my home (in Gulfport, MS). A lot of my friends from back home came to this test to say hello and check out the new track. It looks like it’s going to be a good one for the spectators. It’s flat, so fans can climb on top of their campers and see most of the racetrack. Plus, if M1 brings in some jumbotrons like they’ve hinted about, it’ll be a great event.” The Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha team will return to NOLA Motorsports Park on the weekend of October 5-7 for the Triumph Big Kahuna New Orleans. It’ll be the final race of the 2012 AMA Pro Racing season, and Yamaha is planning several special fan activities at Josh Hayes’ brand-new home track. More details will be announced later in the season. The next race for defending SuperBike champ Josh Hayes, teammate Josh Herrin, and their entire crew will be in just a little more than two weeks when AMA Pro Racing visits Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, in Lexington, OH, on July 13-15.
