DVS Honda’s 2007 Superbike campaign kicked off this weekend with round 1 of the YMF Loan Australian Superbike Championship taking place at Eastern Creek. The round also marked the teams first official race with Adam “Krusty” Fergusson wasting no time in putting the team’s CBR1000RR on its first race podium and finishing the round one point away from 3rd position in the championship. Shane Trovato Team Principal DVS Honda “We’re really pleased with the weekend our first competitive run. This was only our second outing on Dunlop tyres, our first here at Eastern Creek. The team concentrated on getting a good race setup and got the job done, as our race lap times showed. More time on these tyres and we’ll be further up the front chasing Jamie.” “We really need make a special mention of Garry and Aaron from Dunlop for their awesome support. This weekend they were just like extra team members and were always there when we needed them. I also want to thank James and Dave for putting together a terrific bike the DVS shock is already performing above expectation.” Adam “Krusty” Fergusson (Race 1 7th, race 2 3rd, 4th overall) “I need to work on my starts! Either that or I secretly love making life harder for myself. We had some “excitement” in qualifying – firstly a 240km/hr tank slapper when a steering damper failed and then having the red flag come out when Jamie went down cutting the session short just as we were on a flyer. This left us stuck back in 8th on the grid, but I struggled getting off the line – I must have been back in 20th in race 1 and 10th in race two!” “The bike had good speed and we had a pretty good setup in the end, I think I set the 2nd fastest race lap in race one, but just started from too far back. Race two wasn’t as bad and I was closing in on Shawn when he went down and from there it was a straight forward ride to 3rd.” The team are now looking ahead to the next round, a double header at Winton (March 22/25) a track that Krusty has always performed strongly at. The 2004 dual championship winner added “Winton should be an even better round for us we’ll now have a bit more time to get the bike setup properly for these new Dunlops. They’re a very different tyre to what we’ve previously had and we just need to learn how to use their extra grip.”
