WERA AND N2 AT
WERA Motorcycle Roadracing and N2 worked together over the July 15/16/17 weekend at Pittsburgh International Raceway giving all the riders the opportunity to experience the new 2.8 mile roadcourse. Friday was a N2 Track Day and on Saturday the N2 Steel City Challenge 4 Hour Endurance with Staffing and Timing/Scoring by WERA Motorcycle Roadracing took to the track.
The Overall Winner with 118 Laps was #48 MotoEverything Racing on their Yam 1000 with riders Taylor Knapp, Gene Burcham and Eddie Kraft; 2nd went to #22 Apex Racing on their Tri 675 with riders David Grey, Joe Blasius, John Fitz and Richard Harris; 3rd was #503 Team Ramrod/Bobbleheads on their Yam 600 with riders David Kaepernick, Emerson Amaya and John Kremenik. #48 was first Heavyweight; #22 was first Mediumweight and the Lightweight Class winner was #117 RBOM on their Suz SV650 with Chris Parrish, Michael Copoulos, Simon Buric and Russell Masecar.
Sunday WERA took the track with their Pirelli/WERA National Challenge Series and WERA Sportsman Series. The first race, Open/A Superstock saw Taylor Knapp dominate on the Yam 1000 setting the fastest lap at Pittrace in a motorcycle roadrace to date of 1:43.264. #75 Gary Virgin on his Yam 1000 took the Novice win and took a win in the Senior Superbike HW. The Heavyweight Twins Superbike went to #94 Gene Burcham on his Duc 1299 with #911 Aaron Borello behind for 2nd by only 0.481! #23 Mark White took the Novice win and repeated in Heavyweight Twins Superstock.
The 600cc/C Superstock Expert winner was #124 Joseph Blasius on his Tri 675 followed by #20 CJ LaRoche 0.112 behind for 2nd LaRoche took the wins in the 600cc/C Superbike 750cc/B Superbike and 750cc/B Superstock with #195 Nick Shahin on his Suz 750 in 2nd by 0.124 in the 750/B Superstock Class. #43 Shane Perry on his Yam 600 took the 600cc Superstock Novice win and #280 Thomas Bowen on his Yam 600 took the 750cc/B Superstock win #41 Dean Bustle on his Yam 600 took the Novice wins in A Superbike, 750/B Superbike, 600cc/C Superbike and Senior Superbike MW.
The Formula 2 Expert winner was #304 Simon Buric on his Suz SV 650 with # 425 Anthony R. Paul on his SV taking the Novice win and repeating in the Lightweight Twins Superstock. Formula 1 saw #912 Brad Burns take the win on his Kaw 1000 with #4 Michael J. Kelly on his Yam 600 taking Novice honors. #621
Chris Bays on his Suz SV650 took the win in the Lightweight Twins Superstock Expert Race with #425 taking his win on the Novice side.
The Michelin/WERA Superbike Expert race saw #151 Jeremy Kolewski in his Yam 1000 take the win. Other winners for the weekend included #80 Joseph Ball on his Kaw 500 in Clubman Expert with #170 Tyler Scott on his Hon 250 taking the Novice win and repeating in the D Superbike Novice Race.. D Superstock went to #812 Brad Dodd on his Duc 900 with #712 Paxton Jones taking the Lightweight Twins Superbike Novice win on his Suz SV650.
Senior Superbike HW winner was #361 John Beyrand on his Yam 1000 and in Senior Superbike MW Expert #163 Randy Chabot took the win on his Kaw 600. D Superbike Expert winner was #52 Scott McKee on his Yam 400. #107 Tristan Konneker on his Yam 320 took first in E Superstock Expert with #176 Gavin Anthony on his KTM 390 taking the Novice win. #141 Jon Nicholas on his Suz SV650 took the Expert win in Heavyweight Twins Superstock.
In the Vintage races #51 Tommy D’Ettorre took the V6 HW win and #951 Thomas McQuigg on his Hon 1000 took the V7 HW win. #99 John Trautmann took the honors in V7 MW, V8 MW and again in V8 HW for three for three.
