WERA RESULTS FROM ROUND #5 SUMMIT POINT

Mother Nature continued to be kind and Saturday the Bridgestone/WERA National Endurance saw 20 teams take to the track. After a six hour red flag free event Team Zyvax R1 with Chris Clark and Jason DiSalvo on their Yamaha 1000 stood on top of the podium with 281 laps under their belt second was Team Zyvax R6 with Dane Westby and Clinton Seller on their Yamaha 600. Army of Darkness came back to their home track and rounded out the podium on their Yamaha 1000 with Sam Fleming, Ben Walters and Paul Youngman sharing the riding duties, TVR 131 with Chuck Ivey, James Vandehaar and Scott Brown on their Yamaha 1000 and Team Herrin Racing with young guns Zach Herrin, Payton Sassaman and Benny Solis, Jr. on their Yamaha 600 rounded out the top five. Neighbor of the Beast made a comeback in the Lightweight Superbike Class on their Suzuki 650 with Melissa Berkoff, Brian Kcraget and Chris Birdsong sharing duties, Bluegrass Motorsports Park Racing and Cannoli Racing rounded out the top three in the Lightweight Superbike Class. Taking third in the Mediumweight Superbike class behind Zyvax and Herrin was the local team Carnage Racing.

Sunday’s premier classes saw a tight battle between birthday boy Garrett Gerloff on his Suzuki 600, Benny Solis, Jr. on his Yamaha 600 and Sam Gaige on his Yamaha 600 with Payton Sassaman and Justin Holderman rounding out the top 5. Rick Clemons took the Novice 600 Superstock win. WERA Superbike saw a good battle between Brian Stokes and Tim Bemisderfer and then Lee Acree took the final podium position, with Tim Hunt finishing a valiant 4th overall after a bad spill Saturday which broke some ribs. The top 4 all on Honda 1000s and Sam Gaige on his Yamaha 1000 rounded out the top 5. David Ur took the win in the A Superbike Class. Sam Gaige saw more Expert 1st places in other races as did Brian Kcraget. Rick Clemons was the Top Novice for the weekend. For complete results from this weekend’s event go to www.wera.com.

The Series moves to Cycle Jam at the picturesque Virginia International Raceway next weekend with Thursday full of practice and the WERA National Vintage Series, Round #6 of the Bridgestone./WERA National Endurance on Friday, the Pirelli/WERA Sportsman Series on Saturday and the Michelin/WERA National Challenge Sprints on Sunday!
