REESE WACKER ACHIEVES HAT TRICK AT WERA GRAND NATIONAL FINALS Reese Wacker took home the gold at the 40th Annual WERA (Western Eastern Roadracing Association) Grand National Finals Pirelli Sportsman Series held at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama, winning all three National Championship races he entered on his Wacker Racing Suzuki GSXR-1000: A Superstock Expert, Formula 1 Expert, and A Superbike Expert. The three national championship titles at the WERA Grand National Finals followed two additional national championship titles earned the previous weekend at the CCS (Championship Cup Series) Race of Champions held at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. Reflecting on his spectacular racing achievement, Wacker remarks, “I started each race this weekend in fifth or sixth row so my strategy was to get a good start, and then not try to rush it, but to ride smooth and pass where it made sense. My bike set up was perfect thanks to Tim at JRI Shocks. It was also about 20 degrees colder on the track than the previous day, so I didn’t want to push too hard. I wanted to ride my own race. “ His strategy paid off as he captured all three titles available on his Suzuki GSXR-1000. Wacker Racing is a privateer team that would like to thank the following that made this winning season possible: Smith Transport, JRI Shocks, Dunlop, Pilot Leathers, SHM-Puma, Motorex, ARAI helmets, Vortex, Pit Bull, Chicken Hawk, LeoVince, TW Consulting. More, from a press release issued by Rockstar Energy: ROCKSTAR ENERGY’S LORENZO CLAIMS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE IN PHILLIP ISLAND LOS ANGELES, CA (OCTOBER 29, 2012) Yamaha Factory Racing rider Jorge Lorenzo wrapped up a season of domination this weekend with second on the podium in the Grand Prix of Australia to claim his second MotoGP World Championship title, becoming Spain’s first ever double premier-class Grand Prix Champion. Starting from second on the grid, Rockstar Energy’s Lorenzo took the hole shot from the start line, but dropped to third initially behind Championship rival Dani Pedrosa and race leader Casey Stoner. As the leading pack ran through turn four Pedrosa crashed out, leaving Stoner and Lorenzo to break away. The Championship leader delivered a textbook race of inch perfect laps, maintaining the gap to Cal Crutchlow chasing in third, eventually crossing the line to claim the 2012 MotoGP Rider’s title. The win puts Rockstar Energy’s Lorenzo on 350 points, 43 clear of Pedrosa going into the final round. Over the season The World Champion amassed an impressive six race wins and ten second place finishes to secure the title. He now heads to his home race free from the pressure to win and happy to deliver one last race of the year in front of his home crowd. “What a day,” exclaimed Rockstar Energy’s Lorenzo. “I’m very happy, it was easier than I expected because Dani made a mistake in a corner and crashed. “I wanted to keep with Casey but he was so strong. Today all I had to do was finish the race and I have become World Champion for the second time. It’s such a sweet feeling! I want to thank all the team, Yamaha, my family, my friends, sponsors and fans who support me. Today is an amazing moment. We’ve been very patient, very concentrated and finally the World title arrives!” The next event for Rockstar Energy’s Jorge Lorenzo is the final round of the 2012 MotoGP Championship at the Grand Prix of Valencia in Ricardo Tormo Valencia on November 11th.
