C & H Racing By Continental Tires Has Rocky Start To ASRA Team Challenge Season C & H Racing’s Dennie Huff and Brandon Cretu did not have the start that envisioned to the 2012 ASRA Team Challenge Series. The team was stoked to mount up the new Race Attack Slicks provided by their title sponsor, Continental Tires. It was looking to be the perfect weekend in terms of weather and their were some fast teams to compete against! It would be a good test of their off season training and preparation. Unfortunately, a mistake made by rider Dennie Huff was made during morning practice on Friday which saw him low side the team’s CBR1000RR into the sandy and grassy runoff of Roebling Road Raceway. Luckily Dennie walked away unharmed thanks to all the new gear he recently purchased from RevZilla.com, including a brand new for 2012 REV’IT! Stingray suit. “I felt we could definitely get on a pace for the weekend that would see us battling for a podium position during the race. Unfortunately I made a small mistake during morning practice that saw the bike wind up tumbling through the sand and grass. I can say I am glad I had on quality gear from RevZilla and my REV’IT! suit protected me perfectly, it is too bad we couldn’t put some protective gear on the bike! All we can do is look forward to round two and try to regain some points and get back in the fight” said rider Dennie Huff. The team did not have all the parts required to get the bike back into race ready condition by Saturday so they had to call it a weekend. They are looking past this weekend and on to round two of the ASRA Team Challenge Series at Heartland Park in Topeka, KS at the end of this month. Come check out the races if you are in the area and meet the team! In the mean time continue to follow them on www.cretu-huffracing.com. More, from a press release issued by Evansteelperformance.com BMW: Jake Holden and the EvanSteelPerformance.com BMW crew got in some last-minute testing at round one of the CVMA race series before heading to Daytona for the first round of the AMA Pro Racing National Guard Superbike series. Saturday morning was spent getting a basic set up and getting familiar with the new American-made Dunlop slicks. Jake was able to get under the CVMA lap record in Saturday afternoon’s qualifying (which was formerly held by Steve Rapp on an Attack Kawasaki at 1:47.4), turning a best time of 1:47.1. For Saturday’s first Open-class race, Jeremy Toye got the hole-shot and Jake was in close pursuit for the first few laps, the two of them pulling away from the rest of the field with lap times in the mid to low 1:48’s. On lap three Jake made an inside pass going into turn sixteen while unfortunately Jeremy was judged to have jumped the start and had to make a hot pass down the pit lane, handing Jake an easy victory. For Sunday’s first Open-class race Jake was gridded on pole again, nailed the start and was gone. On lap two, the first flying lap, Holden turned a 1:45.8, crushing the prior lap record, and was into lapped traffic on lap three, or possibly could have gone faster again. For the CVMA Open Shootout, Jake was out front immediately and rode away from the pack to win by more than 15 seconds. Overall, it was a successful weekend, and Jake and the team would like to thank Mickey and the CVMA staff as well as their fellow riders and friends for a fun weekend. Jake Holden: “We came out to get some track time before Daytona, as well as to try these new American-made Dunlop slicks. The tires worked really well, and I was able to get comfortable on them pretty quickly Saturday and by Sunday we were rolling. I would have loved to have gotten a few more clear laps in Sunday’s first race when the track conditions were nice and the tire was fresh to see what times we could get down to, but overall it was a productive weekend for us.” Evan Steel: “It was a good weekend. We wanted to get a few last minute laps in before Daytona and also get the entire team together so we could knock the rust off. One of our key mechanics, Willie Vass from Vass Performance Cycle in Canada, was able to come down, finish some last-minute prep work at our shop and get to know Jake a little by working with him at Chuckwalla, which I believe was hugely important before we head to Daytona. The American-made Dunlop slicks worked very well. I think they are going to be a huge hit considering the price and the performance level. Overall, it was a solid start to the year for our team. Next stop Daytona!” The entire EvanSteelPerformance.com BMW team would like to thank all of our awesome sponsors: Iron Horse Motorcycles, U.S.MegaMax.com, Intawishin Consulting Group, Mussleman Honda, Thermosman Suspension, Carrozzerria USA, Leo Vince, Dunlop, XCEL Trackdays, GPR, Ballistik Apparel, Driven, Ohlins, GB Racing, Sidi, Samco, Kurvey Girl, Shoei, OTL Magazine, Mussleman Honda Circuit, Supernova Cycles, ASMA, Tucson Pool and Spa, Mid Town Bar and Grill, Hotbodies, Chicken Hawk, and War Paint.
