Dave Mason to Join John Kay in Double Headline Show

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., — Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Dave Mason will join John Kay and Steppenwolf to play Kickstand City in the infield of historic Daytona International Speedway, Wednesday, March 9 during Daytona Bike Week.

Mason was added to the show to give the Daytona Bike Week crowd a double dose of classic Rock and Roll at the height of Bike Week.

At age 18, Mason teamed with Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldi and Chris Wood to form Traffic. At 19, he penned the song “Feelin’ Alright” which has since become a rock anthem, having been recorded by more than 50 artists, the best known version being Joe Cocker. Traffic’s profound influence over rock music is unquestioned even today.

In 1969, Mason took a solo career to the United States and scored a gold album with “Alone Together,” which is widely considered to be a rock classic.

Four of his next five albums went gold and “Let It Flow,” exceeded platinum standing with the top-ten single “We Just Disagree.”

Mason has performed on other bands’ albums including The Rolling Stones’ “Beggar’s Banquet,” George Harrison’s “All Things Must Pass,” Paul McCartney’s “Listen To What The Man Said” and Jimi Hendrix’s “Electric Ladyland.”

Mason joined Fleetwood Mac in 1993 and toured extensively with them. His lead vocals are featured on the songs “Blow By Blow” and “I Wonder Why” on Fleetwood Mac’s “Time” album.

Kickstand City at Daytona will provide overnight parking and nightly concerts each day of Bike Week in the infield at Daytona International Speedway. Woodruff said more concert announcements will be coming soon. More information is available at www.kickstandcity.com.
