FIRST PERSON/OPINION Via e-mail: I spent Saturday at Blackhawk Farms at a Sportbike Track Time trackday. The new sections of track while appearing pitted in some spots are very smooth and as good as I’ve seen it there for the past 3 years. I run the “A” group and was turning 1:20’s and saw a few guys turning 1:15’s on open class bikes. No flying asphalt or sliding around as some reports mentioned. The transitions from the old surface to the new are smooth and seamless. Attendance was down for a weekend trackday event. that may have been due to the # of people going to Laguna or the rumors that the track surface was poor/unsafe. I can confirm that it was neither.
