Infineon Raceway Presents $5,000 Check to Help North Vallejo Little League SONOMA, Calif. (March 19, 2009) Infineon Raceway and the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame (BASHOF) presented nearly $10,000 to the North Vallejo Little League today to help the league recover from a burglary last week. Jere Starks, vice president of facilities for Infineon Raceway, as well as Jenah Smith and Jim Randolph, representing 3J’s Motorcycle Track Days, presented the $5,000 check on behalf of Infineon Raceway. The monies for the donation will come from a 3J’s Motorcycle Track Days charity event to be held at Infineon Raceway on April 22. “When I heard about this burglary, it just broke my heart and I wanted to do whatever we could to help these kids,” said Starks, a co-founder of the 3J’s Motorcycle Track Days. “I’m so glad we were able to make a donation and it’s great to see the support they’ve received.” League President Tony Hodges and five young Little League players were on hand to happily accept the donations. Practice for the league began this week, with games scheduled to start later this month. “With these checks we really should be able to get back to business,” said Hodges. “I feel grateful. We are in a bankrupt city in a disadvantaged area. I appreciate everything that everyone has done for us to help these disadvantaged kids.” Thomas Martz, president of BASHOF, also presented the league with $4,000. Overall, the league has received more than $13,000 from Bay Area companies and organizations, including the San Francisco Police Officers Association and the Oakland A’s. Thieves broke into the league’s concessions and storage building and stole all of the uniforms and equipment, as well as $600 worth of candy last week. The burglars also ransacked the building and left behind broken computer equipment and trophies. There have been 13 3J’s Motorcycle Track Days at Infineon Raceway over the last five years. The events give motorcycle riders a chance to ride the world-famous road course, with all proceeds going to charity.
