HOMESTEAD-MIAMI SPEEDWAY TO HOST BIG KAHUNA MIAMI IN SEPTEMBER North America’s premier road racing motorcycle series, comprised of four production-based classes, will race in South Florida September 21-23 MIAMI Take top motorcycle manufacturers like Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, BMW, Buell and Harley-Davidson and unite them with elite motorcycle riders from all over the world, and you have AMA Pro Road Racing. Homestead-Miami Speedway and AMA Pro Racing officials, working in conjunction with M1 PowerSports, today announced that AMA SuperBikes will race in South Florida. The inaugural Big Kahuna Miami will be held September 21-23, 2012 in Homestead. “We are thrilled to partner with M1 PowerSports to bring the AMA Pro Nationals to Homestead-Miami Speedway,” said Speedway President Matthew Becherer. “Our track will be active more than 280 days in 2012, and this event featuring the biggest motorcycle series in North America is a great opportunity for South Florida.” Fans will be treated to an entertainment spectacle from M1 PowerSports and the stars of AMA Pro National Guard SuperBike, AMA Pro Daytona SportBike, AMA Pro Motorcycle-Superstore.com SuperSport and the AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 Series. “M1 PowerSports is extremely excited to return to full time event promotion in 2012,” said Cameron Gray, President of M1 PowerSports. “The Big Kahuna Nationals have a long and rich history in AMA Pro Racing and we are thrilled to be coming to Homestead-Miami Speedway and its world-class facilities. Miami is a big event town and we intend to make the track the place to be in September.” Created in 1976 as a showcase for the motorcycle industries new era of big and powerful street bikes, the AMA Pro National Guard SuperBike class featured slightly modified versions of the motorcycles the public could buy off the showroom floor. “We’re excited about having the best riders in the world treat our fans to incredible on-track action,” said Becherer. “Homestead-Miami Speedway is a perfect backdrop for some of the world’s finest superbikes and we know that they will put on a tremendous show for the fans.” The AMA Pro Road Racing Big Kahuna event at Homestead-Miami Speedway will feature grid walks during opening ceremonies, giving fans an opportunity to get up close and personal with AMA Pro riders. An announcement will be made about how to purchase tickets once an on-sale date is finalized by the promoter, M1 PowerSports. The 640-acre facility is active more than 280 days per year and hosts NASCAR’s Championship Races during Ford Championship Weekend (November 16-18, 2012).
