Kawasaki AMA Superbike Showdown QUOTE BOX SONOMA, Calif. (May 9, 2007) “” Infineon Raceway will host the Kawasaki AMA Superbike Showdown, presented by Supercuts, May 18-20 on the twisting 12-turn, 2.22-mile road course. Below are a series of quotes from top AMA riders. WHAT MAKES INFINEON RACEWAY UNIQUE FROM OTHER TRACKS ON THE AMA SUPERBIKE SERIES SCHEDULE? Mat Mladin (Suzuki): “Infineon is probably one of the most challenging tracks we go to. It has a bunch of corners connected by very few straights. It’s a rider’s track, that’s for sure. It has a lot of blind corners over little hills. It’s certainly one of the most challenging tracks each year.” Roger Hayden (Kawasaki): “This track is a lot more physical and a lot tighter with more elevation changes than most other tracks. You have to be pretty aggressive to pass here and it’s not easy, so that can be pretty exciting.” Eric Bostrom (Yamaha): “This track is really fun. It’s a motocross course for road bikes, basically. It really levels the playing field out there and it’s a blast to ride.” Jamie Hacking (Kawasaki): “I’ve always really liked this track configuration and the lines here. I’ve really come to like this track even more over the years and it’s become one of my favorites. I like a track with a lot of rolling hills, so this suits me.” Steve Rapp (Attack Kawasaki): “I think the most unique thing about Infineon is that it has so much variety. If you can ride Infineon, you can probably ride well at any track. Being that it’s where I started racing, I feel like it gave me a lot of experience with different styles of terrain and turns.” In reference to the new Yamaha YZF-R1 Superbike at Infineon Raceway… Jason DiSalvo (Yamaha): The new Yamaha Superbike is such an amazing motorcycle and so technologically advanced versus anything I’ve ridden before. I think it’s going to be a good race for us. I’m happy we’re already scratching the surface in terms of the bike and where it will be competitive-wise versus the other bikes out there. I think it will be very good when we race in May. SUZUKI HAS BEEN DOMINANT IN THE SERIES AND AT INFINEON RACEWAY. WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE FOR SOMEONE TO BEAT THEM? Roger Hayden (Kawasaki): “It’s going to take a good bike and a good rider because those guys have good bikes and good riders. It’ll take a lot. You’re just going to have to be on your game that weekend.” Jamie Hacking (Kawasaki): “Suzuki are the top guys in Superbike and they’re always a second or so ahead of us. We’re slowly closing the gap. I’m just trying to really get this new Superbike dialed in and the guys are doing a great job at making the bike better. It’s a pretty big challenge to work on this Superbike that is only one year old. We just need to get closer.” Kawasaki AMA Superbike Showdown WHAT: Kawasaki AMA Superbike Showdown, presented by Supercuts WHEN: May 18-20 CIRCUIT: 12-turn, 2.22-mile road course 2006 SUPERBIKE POLE WINNER: Ben Spies (Suzuki) 2006 SUPERBIKE WINNER: Ben Spies (Suzuki) NOTABLE: The race weekend will feature a doubleheader of AMA Superbike racing, as well as Supermoto and SBFreaks Freestyle.
