TOURING SPORT DUCSHOP DUCATI HEADS TO MID OHIO After a six week sabbatical Touring Sport Ducshop Ducati heads to Mid-Ohio for the fifth round of the MotoGT endurance championship with two bikes, four riders and a 19 point championship advantage. Frank Shockley and Ryan Elleby will team up again on the number 77 Ducati PS1000LE. The duo were triumphant at the last round at Road America, winning both race and championship class. The team will also field their second bike, the number 38 PS1000LE, with former Red Bull rookie rider’s Huntley Nash and Corey Rech. The Lexington circuit is a technical track with lots of tight corners and elevation changes that should suit the low end grunt of the Ducatis and where rider experience will be key. Team owner Frank Shockley finished on the podium 20 years ago in the AMA Superbike race and has competed in many races there since. Ryan Elleby has ridden Mid-Ohio five times in both AMA and WERA and, like Shockley, loves the circuit. “They’ll be team orders of course”, joked Shockley, referring to the championship challenge of the #77 bike which needs to finish ahead of the #38 bike, “but I’m excited to team up with Ryan again. This is the first time the team has ridden at Mid-Ohio in the endurance championship but we’re confident of a good result.” If you’re planning to attend the race be sure to stop by the team’s pits and see the Bimota DB7 Ducshop has on display. The two-hour race starts at 11am Eastern time and you can follow our progress on at ~http://twitter.com/ducshop~ More, from a press release issued by Michael Jordan Motorsports: CHICAGO, IL (July 15, 2009) Michael Jordan Motorsports (MJM) returns to Lexington, Ohio this weekend for Round 8 of the AMA Pro Racing Championship at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The 2.4 mile natural road course is nestled in the farmlands of central Ohio and traditionally draws one of the largest and most boisterous crowds on the AMA circuit. Those fans will undoubtedly be looking out for MJM riders #23 Aaron Yates and #54 Geoff May, as the two come into Round 8 deadlocked in championship points with 173 apiece. Jordan Suzuki #23 The Jordan Suzuki team is currently riding a wave of good results, with back-to-back podium finishes (in Rounds 6 and 7), and looks to continue that trend at Mid-Ohio. Aaron Yates won 2008’s Superstock race at Mid-Ohio and has shown remarkable speed recently on his 2009 American Superbike after consistently putting his GSX-R 1000 at the sharp end of the timing sheets at Round 7 Laguna Seca. Yates and crew will take to the track on Friday at 9:40 a.m. for Practice 1 at Mid-Ohio and have their sights firmly set on another podium result. “For sure I’m ready for this weekend,” said Yates. “We’ve had a nice run of podiums lately and the Suzuki GSX-R 1000 is working pretty well for us. The team has been working hard and I just want to get back on track and finish the season off strong for the Jordan Suzuki team.” National Guard Jordan Suzuki #54 Geoff May and the National Guard Jordan Suzuki team are coming off a challenging weekend at Laguna Seca, where the #54 team never quite got their set-up dialed in. Seeking redemption in Round 8, May comes into Mid-Ohio determined to get his GSX-R 1000 back up on the box. With three podium finishes to his credit in 2009 and elbow-dragging speed at Mid-Ohio, May isn’t someone the competition wants to lose track of over the upcoming weekend. “The National Guard Jordan Suzuki team and I can’t wait to get back on track,” said May. “We left Laguna Seca feeling like we had some unfinished business out on the track and I want to get back up on the box and give the National Guard squad the results they deserve.” More, from a press release issued by Wyman Brothers Racing: Two Brothers Set to Compete in AMA Pro Supersport at Mid-Ohio Macedon, NY (July 13, 2009) The AMA Pro Supersport grid will include not one but two of the total three Wyman Brothers of the WBR race team. Though Kyle has been competing since Daytona, Travis , 17, will make his AMA Pro Supersport debut at this weekend’s event at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Travis, former member of the 2008 Red Bull AMA U.S. Rookies Cup, hopped on a 600 in the beginning of this year and is ready to take it to the pro level. “I can’t wait to get out there at Mid-Ohio. School is out now and I’ve been watching all my former team mates from last year competing in Supersport this season and am looking forward to joining my brother and them on the grid this weekend.” He will be competing on a Suzuki GSX-R600 while Kyle continues his efforts on the Yamaha YZF R6. Cody, 15, is the youngest of the three brothers and is currently competing on a 125 at club events, but plans on entering the AMA ranks in 2010. WBR would like to extend gratitude to its sponsors: Harv’s Harley-Davidson, Long Pond Autobody, Arai, Chicken Hawk Racing, ChromeGlow.com, Superseal Sealcoating, Dynojet, Vortex, ODI Grips, Dunlop, Zero Gravity, Honey Stinger, and Manchester Mart. More, from a press release issued by Penny Nicolai, on behalf of Team Hurtbyaccident.com: CZAIA & GALLAGHER’S TEAMHURTBYACCIDENT.COM LOOK FOR THEIR SECOND WIN Bradenton, Fla – Looking forward to scoring their second win of the season, Czaia & Gallagher’s TeamHurtByAccident.com are on their way to Lexington, Ohio and Round 5 of the AMA Pro SunTrust MOTO-GT Series at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. “We’re ready to fight the fight,” says team owner C.J. Czaia. “We currently sit just one point out of the lead in the battle for the GT-1 Championship and with a little luck we will be able to come out of this race in first place.” Showcasing the two-wheel talents of Rodolfo Ramirez, Armando Ferrer, Justin Filice, Jimmy Filice, John Linder and Robert Fisher, TeamHurtByAccodent.com runs three bikes in the SunTrust MOTO-GT Series; two in the GT-2 division and one in GT-1. “We’ve been involved in this series since its inception in the fall of 2006,” explains Czaia. “Over the past two years, we have scored a number of victories and podium finishes and ended the season in the top three. This time out, we want the title. In the first four events this season, we have earned a second and a third in GT-1 and have led every time out. Unfortunately a crash at the last race dropped us back a point, but we plan to make it up at Mid-Ohio. There are five more races in the series and that is adequate time to earn the crown.” July 18 will mark the first time the SunTrust MOTO-GT Series has run at Mid-Ohio and the entire team is excited about debuting at this popular, prestigious track. “I really like racing at Mid-Ohio,” says Justin Filice. “It is very flowing and definitely suits my style of riding. The fans are terrific and that makes me even more determined to do well. I took a fifth in the Amateur Nationals there and both my Dad and I know the track so we should both be good to go.” For John Linder and Robert Fisher, Mid-Ohio will be a whole new experience as neither have ever been there. “Both Robert and I are excited about racing at a new track,” says Linder. “We grabbed a third at the last race and now we want to better that. This should definitely be a fun weekend for our entire team. “Everything is in place,” sums up team owner C.J. Czaia. “I am extremely pleased with everyone on our team. They are more than determined to win and I know all their hard work will pay off. We’re in the championship hunt and plan to be triumphant. Headquartered in Bradenton, Fla., with offices in many Florida cities, Czaia & Gallagher P.A. is one of the larger personal injury and accident law firms in the state of Florida. In addition, they are strong supporters of Biker Nights held around the state. Utilizing both their racing program and appearances at Biker Nights one of Czaia & Gallagher’s goals is to educate Florida motorcycle riders of their rights. Be sure and follow TeamHurtByAccident.com as they go for the championship
