SIMON ANDREWS RETURNS TO ACTION AT BRANDS HATCH Simon Andrews makes a welcome return to racing at Brands Hatch where he will be reunited with his Jentin Racing/Lloyds British Yamaha R1 after recovering from injuries received in race two of the 2007 Bennetts British Superbike championship at Cadwell Park in August. The team tested at Silverstone on Friday where Andrews put the bike through its paces over a considerable number of laps. BERNIE TOLEMAN We completed a very useful test at Silverstone and Simon came through with flying colours. The collarbone held up ok and appears to be completely healed. Even the weather was kind to us and we were able to make considerable progress on Friday. Everything is looking very positive for the weekend and it will be nice to have Simon back in the saddle at Brands Hatch for the final showdown. We started the season at Brands Hatch and secured two very strong results of 11th and ninth back in April. A repeat performance would be a very acceptable end to our season and set us on the right track for 2008. SIMON ANDREWS I am really pleased to be back in action after my mishap at Cadwell. My shoulder held up well at Silverstone and we posted some pretty fast lap times. Brands Hatch is one of my favourite circuits and I usually go well there. This time we are using the 1.1986-mile Indy circuit and with us lapping at under 50 seconds each time we should see some pretty close and exciting racing over 30 laps each time. The weekend commences with two free practise sessions on Friday followed by a third on Saturday morning. Qualifying takes place on Saturday afternoon to establish the grid positions. Race one gets underway at noon and the season finale to determine the 2007 British Superbike champion is scheduled for a 2.50pm start. More, from a press release issued by Ben Wilson: BEN WILSON – BRANDS HATCH PREVIEW The final two rounds of the 2007 Metzeler Racetec National Superstock championship take place at Brands Hatch in Kent on Sunday (October 14) and Boston racer Ben Wilson is determined he will feature strongly in both races to end his season with two top results. Going into the final two races Wilson is lying sixth in the points table on 98 points. But it’s tight at the top and although he has missed the opportunity to actually win the series he is only a handful of points away from fourth place. Although unlikely, he still has a very slim chance of taking the runner up spot but to do that he has to win each race and both Hudson Kennaugh and Steve Brogan must fail to score points in either event. “All I can do is go out there and do my best in each race,” said Ben. “I really enjoy the Indy circuit at Brands as it seems to suit my riding style and the Windmill Suzuki performs well at Brands so it’s all in the lap of the gods!” Free practise and the first qualifying session are on Friday with final qualifying on Saturday at 12.20pm. Race one is set for a 3.25pm start and is to be run over 22 laps with the final 24-lap race scheduled for 3.40pm on Sunday.
