Round 7 of 12 of the nation’s top motorcycle racing series brings four classes combining for seven races to the track’s 15-turn, 2.4-mile configuration. The weekend is headlined by the Wiseco SuperBike 100 Doubleheader featuring AMA Pro’s top class, National Guard SuperBike. The GoPro Daytona SportBike and Motorcycle-Superstore.com SuperSport classes will each compete twice and a single Vance & Hines XR1200 race fill up the schedule. “Our history at Mid-Ohio was made in auto racing but what most people don’t realize is that motorcycles have been competing here for 30 years,” said Craig Rust, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course president. “The speed these guys reach on two wheels is amazing, it truly is a spectacular event to see live!” Though there are dozens of hours of track time between practices, qualifying and races, there is plenty to be seen off track, including a fireworks display on Saturday night and motorcycle stunt shows team BikeStyles performing in the upper paddock throughout the weekend. Prior to the races on Saturday and Sunday, fans with Pit and Paddock Passes are able to get onto pit lane for a fan walk and autograph opportunities. Bikes and riders from all four classes will be on the grid during the fan walks making for a packed pit lane. Josh Hayes (#1) has won eight of the 11 AMA Pro National Guard SuperBike races this year as well as three of the last six contests at Mid-Ohio. More, from a press release issued by Celtic Racing/Orient Express: Celtic Racing’s Alexander And Rispoli Eager To Return To Mid-Ohio This Weekend Celtic Racing arrives at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this coming weekend for the second half of the 2012 AMA Pro Road Racing SuperSport series with James Rispoli riding the #1 Celtic Orient Express Suzuki GSX-R 600 and Corey Alexander on the #5 National Guard Fairhills Group Suzuki GSX-R 600. Rispoli is leading the SuperSport West Championship with 232 points after a race win on Sunday and a double podium weekend at Barber, and four race wins so far this season. Corey Alexander looks to Mid-Ohio as an opportunity to gain points on the SuperSport East field, where he sits in fifth position. Mid-Ohio will pay points to the SuperSport East Championship series only, so Corey has to work hard to close the gap on the leaders this weekend. Rispoli notched two second place podium finishes over the 2011 weekend. Alexander scored a fourth and a fifth place finish in his rookie appearance at Mid-Ohio in 2011. Mid-Ohio’s 2012 Buckeye Superbike Weekend by Dunlop Tire marks the 30th consecutive visit to the Lexington, Ohio circuit. AMA riders will contest the 2.4 mile, 15 turn road course which has some of the most technically demanding sections of road racing in North America. Every aspect of the Celtic Racing GSX-R 600’s will be tested on the asphalt and concrete surface, with high speeds, heavy braking, and banked turns. To watch the SuperSport races, please visit http://www.speed2.com for race coverage streamed to your computer (with compatible provider). James Rispoli is happy to return to Mid-Ohio, and said “I enjoy racing here at Mid-Ohio, and I am looking to push hard to get the results this weekend. You really have to connect the dots at this track, double apex corners, and grip usually sucks. We worked on making the Celtic Orient Express GSX-R 600 more stable under braking at the NOLA test, and we found a good direction. Should be a great race!” Corey Alexander had a productive test at NOLA Motorsports Park after the Barber race, and stated “I’m really excited to get back on my National Guard Fairhills Group Celtic Racing Suzuki. I’ve been riding a lot of motocross and just focusing on having fun while getting my fitness even better. I’m hoping for some good results at Mid-Ohio this weekend.” Both Celtic Racing Suzuki GSX-R 600’s showcase the best in road racing technology. Product support for both machines comes from: Michael Jordan Motorsports, American Suzuki, Armor Bodies, Chicken Hawk Racing, DesignStar3, Dynojet, FMF Racing, Full Spectrum Power, Hudson Valley Racing, Galfer Brakes, GB Racing, K-Tech Suspension, Maxima Oils, Motion Pro, Pit Bull, Riviera Country Club, Saddlemen, Star Motorcycle School, Vortex Racing, and Zero Gravity. Celtic Racing was established in 2001 by Barry Gilsenan, and over the past 11 seasons has established itself as a premier privateer racing team. Development of riding talent began with two-stroke 125cc, and 250cc machines competing in professional and regional championship events. More recent Celtic Racing efforts have focused on AMA Pro Road Racing in the Daytona SportBike and SuperSport classes with Ducati, Honda, Suzuki, and Yamaha four stroke motorcycles. Gilsenan’s talent for coaching racers of all ages and abilities has brought Celtic Racing worldwide attention and recognition, with many former Celtic Racing riders now competing on World Championship levels. More, from a press release issued by Kyle Wyman Racing: Kyle Wyman Racing rental program adds two riders to Mid-Ohio race LEXINGTON, Ohio (July 12) — Brothers Joe and Sam Rosynski will be the latest riders to take advantage of Kyle Wyman Racing’s XR1200 rental program, joining championship contender Kyle Wyman in this weekend’s “Buckeye Superbike Weekend” at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Hitting the historic course alongside Wyman’s KLR Group/Spyke’s Harley-Davidson, the Rosynskis will be piloting identically-prepared Spyke’s Harley-Davidson/Vesrah-backed XR1200s as part of the KWR Rental Program. Kyle Wyman Racing offers race-ready XR1200 motorcycles to licensed AMA Pros, providing a true arrive-and-ride experience to riders looking to saddle up in the AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 Series. “So far the rental program has been a big hit,” Wyman said. “And it’s been quite an adventure as well. It’s been rewarding being able to help put riders on the grid and give people an opportunity to race at a level they may not have otherwise reached. I think everyone should ride an XR1200 at some point, as they offer a learning experience even more unique than the bike itself.” KWR receives technical support from Spyke’s Harley-Davidson and logistical support from the Rider’s Discount/Vesrah Suzuki team to back the program, which has been offering motorcycles since Round 2 of the AMA Pro Road Racing series at Road Atlanta. “It’s easy for things to go really well when you’re working with the best,” said Joe Rosynski, “The bikes have arrived fully prepared for me at the Infineon and Road America rounds, and they are always in tip-top shape. The crew is a dream to work with and I’m having a blast each and every time out on the track.” For more information on the KWR XR1200 Rental Program, visit www.kylewymanracing.com or email [email protected].
