TEAM VELOCITY RACING II WINS MEDIUMWEIGHT SUPERSTOCK IN THRILLING ENDURANCE FINALE AT ROAD ATLANTA BRASELTON, Ga. Team Velocity Racing clinched the Mediumweight Superstock championship on Friday at Road Atlanta following a four-hour battle in the WERA Endurance Series season finale. The Mediumweight Superstock class was one of the closest championship races in the series, with Team Velocity Racing II (TVR II) and Dalke Motorsports both vying for the title entering the final round. James Stroud, Joshua Day and Steven Breckenridge rode the TVR II Yamaha YZF-R6, and their efforts resulted in the class win and championship. The TVR II riders had a challenge from start to finish. Several red flags in the first half of the race kept anyone from breaking away from the field, and TVR II and Dalke swapped for the lead with every pit stop. After being separated by mere seconds throughout the race, Day’s final stint to the checkered flag gave TVR II an eventual one-lap margin of victory. The team finished fifth overall. “I was just out riding my best and trying to be safe. I didn’t want to mess up the championship,” commented Day. “In my last stint to the finish I was told I was turning 1:32s, but I felt comfortable even at that quick of a pace. I just started pulling out the gap. I came around turn 12 and saw the starter there, and I knew I would get the checkered flag the next time around.” Stroud echoed Day’s feelings about the pace. “This race was very intense and the pace was fast,” he said. “I was running in the low 1:30s on a 600 in an endurance race! Dalke put in a good effort, and it came down to us being a couple of seconds faster, and the crew performed flawlessly.” TVR II’s championship effort this season included riders Stroud, Day, Breckenridge, Chuck Ivey and Andrew Nelson. Ivey and Scott Harwell rode the Team Velocity Racing Yamaha YZF-R1, finishing third in the Heavyweight Superstock class and sixth overall. TVR wound up third in the class championship this season thanks to the riding efforts of Ivey, Harwell, Nelson and Reuben Frankenfield. “This season has been tough with managing two teams and to be able to come away with at least one championship is gratifying,” said TVR team owner Ivey. “We’ve had a lot of adversity this season- a shortage of riders and crew, injuries, and a few mechanical issues that hurt us. It’s nice to end the season with a strong race and a championship, and we’re going to build on this for next year.” Team Velocity Racing would like to thank their sponsors and dedicated crew members for their assistance and hard work throughout the season.
