Team Higgins Powersports/Roadracingworld.com had a great start to the 2009 season last weekend at Summit Point! The team went down to Summit for the WERA opener for the track, and some much needed set-up time on the new ZX6R’s. Rider Jeff Wood was able to score wins in all three classes entered, C-Superstock, C-Superbike, and Middleweight Solo. When asked about the weekend, Jeff Wood said “Im really happy with how these new bikes are turning out! I came down here with my girlfriend as my mechanic, we worked hard and we made a ton of progress together. We took both bikes out of the crate seven days ago, so its been a push to get them ready in time. These bikes are still bone stock in the engines, so there is plenty of room to go. I look forward to the next race we have at NHMS!” The team would really like to extend thanks to the following sponsors who helped get these bikes ready in a very small period of time: Higgins Kawasaki, Woodcraft, Penske, Leo Vince, Dynojet, Dunlop, Street and Comp, Robs Dyno, Vesrah, Maxima, Thermosman, Pro Prep, and VP. More, from a press release issued by Seattle 100 Racing: Seattle 100 Racing produces 5 wins in WMRRA Season Opener Uncommon sunny weather at the first round of the 2009 WMRRA season helped Seattle 100 Racing take home 5 victories in hotly contested classes. “I’m so excited that Seattle 100 Racing grabbed 5 wins in the 6 premier classes this weekend,” team owner Mark DeGross energetically stated. “I’m very proud of the team’s success, how hard they rode, and their class act personalities which sure help promote our Seattle 100 Charity event.” Taking home 4 of those wins was 2 time WMRRA #1 plate holder Eli Edwards in the 600SS, 600SB, 750SS and Formula Ultra classes. Edwards rode his Yamaha R6 supported by Speeddealer Motors and Eastside Motosports to dominate wins in both 600 classes and used the incredible grip of the Dunlop tires to keep at bay the 750’s in 750SS. The highlight of the weekend was hopping on a Suzuki GSXR-1000 Superbike offered to Edwards to ride by AMA team owner Lash Mullen of Trifoglio racing and taking the win at the line in the Formula Ultra race. Having never ridden the bike until Saturday morning practice, Edwards worked hard on geometry and suspension settings with Barry Wressell of KFG Racing to get the bike dialed in for Sunday’s race. “That was a lot of fun riding the superbike today and I sure appreciated the power it had to reel in the leader and nip him at the line for the win!” Edwards said enthusiastically after the victory. “What a great weekend with the fantastic weather and 4 wins!” This weekend will certainly jump start his 2009 campaign to regain the #1 plate! Bringing home the other win for Seattle 100 Racing was Brad Gua in 750SB. This was Gua’s first win since 2005 and needless to say he was ecstatic about it. He opened up a strong lead on the opening lap and went on to take the victory after leading the entire race. “I went with a full Ohlins superbike front end on the GSXR-750 this year and after Barry Wressell of KFG Racing helped me to get it dialed in, it just kept begging me to ride it harder and harder! I felt like I still haven’t found the potential of the bike yet and with the strong Speeddealer Motors work on the engine, I’m confident I’ll be able to back this up with other wins” Brad explained after celebrating his victory. Seattle 100 Racing is proud to be represented by Eli Edwards and Brad Gua who through the race team, promote the Seattle 100 Charity event, benefitting the Nephcure foundation which funds research for a rare type of kidney disease. AMA stars such as Mat Mladin, Ben Spies, Josh Hayes, Jake Holden, Jake Zemke, Danny Eslick, Jason DiSalvo & Jason Pridmore along with Greg White with Speed TV cameras have attended and ridden at the event in years past to help bring attention to it. In the last 5 years the Seattle 100 Charity event has raised over $500,000 for Nephcure and the goal is to raise $150,000 in 2009. Anyone can attend the Seattle 100 Charity event which is built around a track day format that the pro riders participate in along with pro exhibition sessions and evening banquet.
