Misano awaits Bautista and Rizla Suzuki
Rizla Suzuki has made a quick transatlantic dash to Misano in Italy following last weekend’s Grand Prix in America, for the 12th round on this season’s MotoGP calendar.
Ãlvaro Bautista will be looking to continue with the form he showed in Indianapolis – where he raced to sixth position – at a circuit that should suit both his riding style and the performance of the Suzuki GSV-R. Bautista’s result in America was achieved after the strong potential shown by rider and machine in previous races, and the Spaniard now believes the team can go from strength-to-strength and produce even better results as the season continues.
Located near Rimini on the Adriatic Riviera, the Misano World Circuit is a track that features many slower corners taken in first and second gears and where overtaking is very tough. It has a long sweeping curve with two very high-speed right-handers that certainly make for exciting action and is not a circuit where ultimate top-speed is essential, although a consistent and smooth riding style certainly plays a part in mastering the layout.
Bautista will take to the track on Friday 2nd September for the first of two free practice sessions on that day, with a further practice on Saturday morning. Qualifying on Saturday afternoon will see the Suzuki star aiming for the best possible grid position for Sunday’s 28-lap race, which is scheduled to get underway at 14.00hrs local time (12.00hrs GMT).
Ãlvaro Bautista:
“I think we have a good reference at Misano from last year and we had a good race there in 2010. I want to improve on that and think that we can. It is a track that has every type of corner, it involves lots of hard braking and plenty of changes of direction it is a real fun track to ride. I want to start with a similar rhythm to that which we had in the race last year and try to be as close as I can to the top as early as possible. I believe we have the package now to do that and we will keep working hard until we achieve our goals.”

GP of San Marino and the Riviera of Rimini, preview
An important appointment for Team JiR and rider Alex De Angelis is getting closer, the next GP of San Marino is the home GP: for the rider due to its proximity to his home and because Santa Monica is one of the two test tracks chosen by the team for its private tests.
The fascination of racing in Italy again will excite the thousands of fans that usually crowd the stands to see the heroic acts of their idols! Team and rider will introduce themselves to Misano with the will to get back on the positive path that they were on before the American race. The basic setting of the MotoBI gave positive response in private tests held a few weeks ago on this track, therefore the job will focus on giving back to the rider his feeling with his MotoBI making as many laps as possible during the available practice sessions.
Gianluca Montiron
With renewed enthusiasm we start again in Misano, I trust in Alex’s capabilities to recover from the not so positive American race, these tough times will tighten up even more the Team’s cohesion with the only aim being performance. One single race with peculiar conditions cannot affect out trust in our potential nor in our capabilities.
It’s a honour to see our image on the promotional billboards of the GP of San Marino, to be in third place in the Championship is an important result and we still have many races till the end of the season so anything could still happen. Some little improvements are expected for next races, Japanese technicians from TSR are giving their best to provide us with a more and better performing machine, obviously I trust in the difference that our rider can make, Moto2 is such a leveled and aggressive category, the speed and experience of Alex can emerge at any time.
Alex DeAngelis
We must forget quickly the misleading race of Indianapolis and find the competitiveness we had developed in previous races. The circuit of Misano is a track I like very much as is a sort of “home” for me, moreover the test we made with the MotoBI a few weeks ago gave good responses, we have data and references that can be exploited and I hope we’ll be able to capitalize them, of course we’ll need to finalize the set up according to the tyres we’ll be provided by Dunlop for the weekend. The room for improvements is still there and we must be able to turn them into our advantage, a good race is achievable and we all will give our best. The image of me on my MotoBI has been chosen as symbol of the GP on the whole seaside resort, giving me a feeling of warmth and is a boon that I receive from fans and my fellow citizens in this event. This will be a further push to get back with the leaders and aim for the top step of the podium.

FTR MOTO AIMING TO CONTINUE SUCCESS IN ITALY
FTR MOTO is looking to continue its Indianapolis form of last Sunday in America when the Moto2 World Championship reaches round 12 at Misano in Italy this weekend.
FTR M211-mounted youngsters Pol Espargaro (HP Tuenti Speed Up) and Esteve Rabat (Blusens-STX) finished second and third respectively in the Indianapolis race and arrive in Misano in confident mood and hopeful of a first win of the year.
Rabat sits in eighth place in the World Championship while highest placed FTR rider Simone Corsi, on the Ioda Racing Project M211, will be looking to improve on fifth place in the series, continue his run of scoring points in every round and challenge for a debut win at his home round.
Corsi’s team-mate Mattia Pasini will also be keen to impress on home soil after taking 11th and eighth places in the previous two rounds, at Brno and Indianapolis.
Max Neukirchner, riding the MZ-FTR, is looking to improve on his best finish of eighth this year also in Italy, at Mugello while his team-mate Anthony West continues to show the form that brought him a season-best fourth place at Assen, Holland in June and will be out to repeat that performance at Misano.
Ratthapark Wilairot (Thai Honda Singha SAG) continues his search to add to his early season point-scoring finish at Jerez while Kenny Noyes (FOGI/GP Tech M211), Valentin Debise (Speed Up) and Santiago Hernandez (SAG Team) all head to Misano aiming for a top 15 finish and their first points of the year.
“The Indianapolis results for Espargaro and Rabat have left everyone at FTR fired up for the remainder of 2011,” admitted FTR’s Steve Bones. “Espargaro was less than two seconds away from victory in America so we’re pretty confident the guys can stand on the top step of the podium soon.
“With six rounds to go we’re reaching the business end of the 2011 World Championship and teams and riders will begin to look to their 2012 plans, the riders especially will be out to impress and we’re confident that the FTR M211 riders can consistently run at the front now.”
